Have we looked into MCI-Shirley yet for a QB? Could be a Paul Crewe*-option waiting in the wings?
*Burt Reynolds (RIP)-Paul Crewe, not Adam Sandler-Paul Crewe, duh.

Towson (CAA) picked up a nice kid buried in the depth chart from Rutgers when they went hunting for a QB transfer last year. Strongish arm and very good wheels (that is the recipe in the CAA for success...sort of like Trevor Knight at UNH...or an early PP now that I think of it). Tearing it up. Tom Flacco (they say his older brother throws it a bit too).

I erred in thinking that Wade was the third QB in the class entering in 2015. The QBs on the 2015 team were PP, two sophs Bell, McHale; two freshmen, Ian Brown and Wade. Brown was offered by HC and N. Dakota State.

Just reading this short list is a reminder that when a PL team lands an athletic (quick feet, good hands and good arm) QB recruit and he doesn't work out at QB (Bell, for example), there may be another spot on the starting squad. In fact, the promise of a real tryout/competition at QB might lure that talented kid in the first place. On the other hand, a pro style (and possibly slower-footed) drop back QB scollie recruit really has only one position he can possibly play...

To those pining for an FBS QB transfer (not saying it's a bad idea):
Name the last Holy Crosss football player to transfer in from another school (any division) and play at any position.
I recall ZERO in my 13 seasons of following Crusader football.

The QB from Grambling Earrick Stewart May have been most recent

The QB from Grambling Earrick Stewart May have been most recent I believe WR David Thompson came with him and was a very good player.

I don't remember the names of either but do recall pretty clearly that we had two transfers from Grambling at the same time.

Those are the names (not sure of the spelling of Stewart's first name).
Thompson had a solid 2 (or 3) years.
Stewart played when Brian Hall got hurt in 2000. In 2001 he wasn't playing much as Hall had returned. He decided to call it a career a few games into the season.
Stewart had a lot of talent and made some big plays; he also tended to be a bit erratic and turned the ball over a lot. At least that's my memory of the guy.
There was also a kid named Siaki from the same era, was he a JUCO? Either that or he was a four year guy and his brother was the JUCO (his brother never actually came to HC). From Arizona I believe.

lots of good recruiting news. But where are we with this question? Butash to start as a freshman??? @ Navy, @ Syracuse? Nope. Speed of the game and environment would be too overwhelming, therefore risk of injury too high, and then what’ll we do? Wade needs to come back for a 5th year or we need a transfer, assuming no player on current roster is ready, which would be a disheartening thought, no? This is a gargantuan issue. Absolutely enormous. In fact, there is no close second. We get a QB and we win the PL. Big challenge for Coach Chesney to figure out in the off-season. I’m not envious. Will follow with enthusiasm.

lots of good recruiting news. But where are we with this question? Butash to start as a freshman??? Start Butash, you can't expect him to beat Syracuse, but he should do fine in the PL games. Goal in the next bunch of years is win the PL. If you don't give him game experience you cant expect much when you finally play him. Besides we just sat through this year with horrendous quarterback play in certain spots. It cant get worse. Same problem in NFL, draft a high quarterback who you want and then let him sit on the bench. Makes no sense. Only becomes better by experiencing and playing in the games. It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does.

I see that point but at the same time these two games may be so overwhelming that going 3 and out for 4 quarters will not yield any meaningful experience for a new QB. Did Clifford get any better at BC? If we opened with CCSU or Wagner, I would ageee with you.

Maxpreps apparent final high school ranking for Carrollwood Day is #370 in Florida, and #6782 nationally. Season record was 6-6. Mr. Butash may indeed be a talent, but his school is not in a high level Florida conference.. And the 'scouting; services characterize him as a pro-style QB, which is not the type of offense that coach 'spread 'em and shred 'em' sought to install.

FBS transfer is the most logical answer imo...how this is done I really have no idea....can we put out feelers within the NCAA regs?

The NCAA has a website which lists all D2 and D3 athletes that wish to transfer. Football has hundreds as of now and i suspect will have many more after coaches finish meeting with their players. The web site is very controversial among D1 coaches. All a coach has to do is click on the web site get the contact info and contact the recruit. Some interesting names from some very good schools including many Ivies.
