Massey makes Holy Cross an 8 point favorite (21-13) with a 75% chance for the win.
The Hoyas are going for a winning season (both overall and in the PL). They have had some upsets this year and are looking to end their season on a positive note. HC won 21-10 at Fitton last year. On our last trip to DC, HC queued out a 1 point win (21-20).
Here is the story on their last games against Colgate and Bucknell. Note that they held Colgate scoreless in the first quarter. I really hope we can avoid that happening again to HC.
HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Georgetown University football team fell 38-0 on the road to No. 11/16 Colgate in a matchup of the final two unbeaten teams in the Patriot League. With the loss, the Hoyas saw their three-game winning streak ended as they fell to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in league.
Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek / Arizona) completed eight passes for 48 yards and Jay Tolliver (Columbus, Ohio / Gahanna Lincoln) finished with team highs with 16 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards.
The Hoya defense held Colgate off the board in the first quarter, helped by a fourth down stop in the red zone and a Wes Bowers (Fort Washington, Md. / Bishop McNamara) sack. The Raiders opened the scoring with a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs early in the second quarter. A 22-yard field goal made it 17-0 before a 55-yard interception return in the final minute of the half made it 24-0.
Georgetown again held the Raiders off the board in the third quarter, but touchdown runs of 1- and 4-yards in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring, 38-0.
The Hoyas will enjoy their bye week before closing out the regular season with a pair of home games, hosting Bucknell on Nov. 10 and Holy Cross on Nov. 17. Both games will kick off at 12:30 p.m.
WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team recorded a season-high seven sacks and only allowed 13 rushing yards, to defeat Bucknell University 14-3 on Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League game at Cooper Field. With the win, the Hoyas move to .500 on the season at 5-5 and improve to 4-1 in conference play. The Bison fall to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in Patriot League action.
Freshman Herman Moultrie III (Columbus, Ohio / Columbus Academy) rushed for a career-high 135 yards on 22 carries, while also receiving one pass for 22 yards and a touchdown. It was Moultrie's first career 100-yard rushing game and his first career receiving score. Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek / Arizona) finished 8-of-15 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown and rushed eight times for 30 yards. Jay Tolliver (Columbus, Ohio / Gahanna Lincoln) added 11 carries for 45 yards.
Wes Bowers (Fort Washington, Md. / Bishop McNamara) led the defense with 11 tackles and a sack. Xavier Reddick (Powder Springs, Ga. / McEachern) added seven tackles, a sack and an interception. Khristian Tate (Warner Robins, Ga. / Covenant Academy) had two sacks to give him a team-leading 9.5 on the season and finished with 4.0 tackles-for-loss. Blaise Brown (New Orleans, La. / St. Augustine / Loomis Chaffee), Mike Taylor III (Shreveport, La. / CE Byrd) and Quincy Chinwuko (Sikeston, Mo. / Sikeston) all added sacks as well.
It was a defensive battle as neither team could do much in the first quarter. The Hoyas outgained the Bison in total yards 101-27, but could not convert it into points.
Midway through the second quarter, a 36-yard rush by Moultrie gave Georgetown a first-and-goal. Three plays later, Johnson ran it in from four yards out to put GU on the board. Oliver Hill's (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Deerfield Academy) PAT made it 7-0 with 5:29 left before halftime.
A defensive stand kept Bucknell off the board as the second half wound down, giving the Hoyas the lead at the midway point.
Bucknell got on the board with a 37-yard field goal midway through the third quarter, but the Hoyas answered right back with a four-play 65-yard drive. Moultrie fueled the drive with runs of 14 and 30 yards before catching a short screen pass from Johnson and weaving his way to the goal line for a 22-yard touchdown reception. Hill's PAT kick gave GU the 14-3 lead with 3:21 left in the third quarter.
The Georgetown defense continued to hold strong, recording four of its sacks in the fourth quarter. Bucknell drove down to the 6-yard line, but the Hoyas came up with a four-down stop to keep the Bison off the board. Bucknell got the ball back one more time, but Reddick came up with a 14-yard sack on fourth down to seal the win.
The Hoyas will remain home at Cooper Field to close out the regular season next weekend, hosting Holy Cross in a 12:30 p.m. contest on Saturday, Nov. 17. Georgetown will celebrate its 17-member senior class in an on-field pregame Senior Day ceremony.
The contest against Holy Cross is currently sold out.
Notes – Moultrie was Georgetown's first 100-yard rusher since Johnson rushed for 131 yards at Bucknell last season … The seven sacks are the most by a GU defense since the 2017 season opener when it also recorded seven at Campbell … The four wins in Patriot League play are the most by the Hoyas since joining the conference in 2001.
