BC has their kids day game today and we're the visitors. This matchup is supposed to make for an easy game for them. We'll see
BC is 2-0 after one-sided wins over URI and St. Peter's. They have 7 frosh on their 12 person roster so we should have a chance here. Last year they were 7-23 (2-14 ACC) so they fired their coach and brought in the coach from Albany who is familiar with HC and Gibbons.
The Eagles certainly have more D.1 talent on their roster but we should be able to compete here. If this is a one-sided loss for us, there should be reason for concern again going forward.

BC's two best scorers, inc last year's leading scorer, are not freshmen, so they may not be as easy to compete with They start 3 juniors and 2 frosh they have averaged 88 ppg, giving up 60

Game is on espn watch (no charge) - amazing 1st qtr - Manis is on fire, totally carrying us - she has 16 pts in 1st qtr - we lead 27-25 after 1 We wont be able to keep us this pace so we'll have to settle down to keep the score in the 70's

Not bad for missing 2 starters, Morris & Faulkner

Eagles jump out to 40-32 lead after a 10-0 run, couple of careless t/o by HC, and not getting the boards

HC playing as well as they can. BC has many more good players. Manis is best player on court. Next 10 are BC.

At the half - BC 51-41, that dry spell @ the beginning of the second hurt.

BC up at the half 51-41, wearing us down with their defensive intensity and fast style. Manis with 23 - she's an ACC caliber player out there for us. We have a short bench and Ezemma and Swords have 3 fouls. Had to play Nixon, Murphy and Petro a bit.
Gonna be difficult to stay close in the 2nd half I'm afraid

we're shooting 14 of 27 from the field - 5 of 11 from 3, and 8 of 8 from the line. Been a long time since we've seen that ! and we're still down by 10

BC begins to pull away, on 10 run, again up 63-44 half way through the 3rd. Have to watch the rest later

89-63 final - Manis finished with 30 pts (996 total in career) I'm afraid we only have one player who belonged on the floor with a team of BC's caliber. Very hard to say if we have enough talent to compete at the top of our league - it's possible I suppose
Brown in next for us on Sunday when Lauren will get her 1000th point

I can understand your point, haze, BC has depth and these are ACC calibre players. However, HC showed some good things - mostly on offense. Defense was something different and we had no answer for the BC 3s. I think this team can compete pretty well in the PL - but we still have only small sample to go on. Ihopoe they get to really stick it to Brown.

Manis had quite a line 30 pts on 10-18, 4-5 on threes, 6-6 FT, 7 rebounds Unfortunately, as haze points out, no one else in double figures Very impressive that she will hit 1000 this early in her junior year

Manis should move into 28th place all time after the Brown game, and has a realistic shot at 2,000 points for a career (if she stays healthy). Only Sherry Levin and Amy O'Brien have done that.

Nobody cares if we beat Brown. Why can't people understand that the PL is holding us back in basketball, men & women.

Just call me "nobody." I, for one, do care if the women win OOC Games, just as I wanted the men to beat Brown some time back. I am sure there are others as well who care. Don't try to make your point by exaggerating...I must have told you that at least a million times already. Why can't some people seem to understand that we are in the PL for now? The team, its coaches and their supporters want to win the PL and get to the NCAA. Is there anything to be gained by losing to better teams more frequently?

Ah, starting up calls for a move to a bigger league right after the season starts - a Crossports tradition.....7 months of off-season is just not enough. I'm starting to come around, though, and I made this wager with myself: if attendance at the Fordham at UMass men's game on 2/6/19 is greater than the capacity of the Hart (what, 3,500 or so now), then I'll be all in for a move. I'll even order a t-shirt from cfrivals that reads: "Holy Cross Crusaders - A10 or Bust!". With the proper logo, of course.

It'll all quiet down again once Billy Gibbons gets Geno to play us again.

HC website states "Manis dominates but HC falls to BC" (by 26). That is weird.

Watched a little of the game. Manis was the best player on the floor.

Agree that Manis was excellent but it was an uneven game in a sense. After a fantastic 1st qtr with 16 pts, she definitely got worn down in the final 3 qtrs and shot at a much lower %, scoring 14 points in the final 30 minutes. She played only 28 minutes and was not in foul trouble (3 total). I'll take her any day on my team but overall you could see BC had the advantage in the conditioning and athleticism category.
