Bucknell up one and at the line with 8 seconds to play Sotos makes one FT of 2 attempts URI misses a 3 point shot with 2 seconds on clock Bucknell wins 84-82
Bucknell looked good making adjustments in the 2nd half. Erased a 7 point deficit and shot lights out in the second half to beat URI by two. Rhody did not help its cause with a woeful 12-23 from the FT line.

Bounce-back win for AU after a terrible home loss to Mount St. Mary's Tuesday, with the Eagles taking care of a bad UMES squad today, 82-58. We jumped on them early, got multiple defensive stops in the first half and moved the ball and ourselves: 22 assists on 26 baskets. Larry Motuzis led four players in double figures with 15 points; Sa'eed Nelson had 11 points and 11 assists with 7 rebounds. Career highs in points (11) and boards (7) for Yilret Yiljep. UMES is awful, so it's not like we're all good now. But we did convincingly take out a team we should have. Now 6-4. Last OOC game a week from today at George Washington. Glad to see AU win, but that MD-ES team is truly dreadful. Team is 0-12 versus D-1 opponents with its median loss by 22 points. Yes, UMES is awful. Bottom 10 in the country in several categories. To be fair, they've also been strafed by injuries; they were down to seven healthy bodies a couple of weeks ago. Just starting to get everyone back. But, no question, they're not good.

You still have to win the game on the floor, so congrats. People here say Canisius and Siena stink, but those were competitive, hard fought wins, and fun to watch. I'll take them

Match-up will be interesting as they have strength and answers to what we like to do offensively . . . One advantage Holy Cross might have is that Nathan Davis has, in the past, been very stubborn about sticking with man-to-man defense - and the HC offense runs much better vs. m2m, imo. Maybe 137 can update us on whether Davis is showing more zone looks this season. No zone at all this year or last year. He played some match-up the first half of his first season and then abandoned it when he was forced to start a freshman due to Nate Jones' injury. I would like to see him use it, at least a little bit as a change of pace.

Bucknell up one and at the line with 8 seconds to play Sotos makes one FT of 2 attempts URI misses a 3 point shot with 2 seconds on clock Bucknell wins 84-82 Was a very good, close game I saw........a real slugfest, so to speak..........when URI would hit one, Bucknell would hit back....URI hits, Bucknell hits back......punch, counter punch.......punch, counter punch.......again and again until.............the Bison was the last one standing. May have taken its toll on the winner as Bucknell lost to a strong TCU team Sunday night by 17. That game I did not see. Don't know if it was tired legs or just a bad shooting night - but Bucknell's four smaller starters (Sotos, Mackenzie, Toomer, Moore) hit 2-18 on threes - most of them open looks. Against URI the previous night, the same four were 7-15. Not going to beat a strong team like TCU with outside shooting like that.

Getting TCU at the end of back-to-back games is asking a lot under any circumstances. Merry Christmas, bison137.

Bucknell's last four games have been at Ohio State, at St. Mary's, URI, and TCU, so it's been a tough stretch. They get a one day break today, but then finish up with UNLV. They will get a bit of free time in Hawaii before heading back.

I hope they enjoy that free time. They have certainly earned it!

I enjoy reading your posts and pull for the Bison except for a couple of occasions.

Loved the indignation from some URI fans over losing to Bucknell. I don't know, when I compare programs over the last 15 years, Bucknell's resume looks better to me.

URI loses to Hawaii.Final 68-60 and URI record now 6-5. They must be thanking us or they'd be playing a .500 record to date.

Saw Bucknell for first time today very impressive indeed, obviously shot lights out today but also played great defense and passed the ball very well. Very deep team played 11 men in 1st half alone will obviously be a major factor in league this year. Very impressive that after losing 3 first team all league performers last year they seem to have picked up without losing a beat.

Bucknell was outrebounded 44-36 and had 12 TO's to 10 for UNLV, but UNLV could not put the ball in the basket from deep (4-25= .160) while Bucknell could not miss (14-25= .560) on threes. Jimmy Sotos had 12 assists. Bucknell made a huge jump from #172 to #152 on KenPom's site driven by the superior offensive efficiency.

. Jimmy Sotos had 12 assists. Better, he also had only one turnover. The last time a Bison had 11 more assists than turnovers was in the NCAA upset win over Kansas in 2005 when Abe Badmus had 11 assists vs zero turnovers. Badmus had the more impressive feat, obviously.

Bucknell made a huge jump from #172 to #152 on KenPom's site driven by the superior offensive efficiency. Bucknell has also taken over first place in the PL "standings" based on NRtg (ORtg - DRtg). Holy Cross running second, tops in DRtg.

The Eagles committed 20 turnovers, six by Sa'eed Nelson. Nelson is a great player, but today has to have been one of the worst statistical games he's ever had: 7 points (3-10 FG's, 1-4 FT's), 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 6 turnovers, 1 steal, fouled out early in OT on an offensive foul. With GW having a real down year and missing their top rebounder, I expected AU to win this one.

Colgate did not look good against at best a mediocre Pitt team.
League looks like it will be quite competitive after Bucknell. They benefit by reloading and outside of Floyd we remain physically young. The potential from mid majors comes when they are physically developed as seniors so these next three years have enormous upside
