Well, we're 3 weeks into the season and there seems to be two teams looking the best, Bucknell and Lehigh. Both are 5-2 against a tougher schedule than ours. the Bison are probably the better team at this time. Another very talented big in the league (other than Manis) is Kaitlyn Slagus of the Bison. She was the mvp of the 3 game Brown tourney this weekend when they won 3 one-sided games vs. Fairfield, UMass and Brown. After these two teams, it's up for grabs at the moment.

Don't forget American. They have two wins that are a lot better than any of Lehigh's. And all three of their losses were to very good teams. Lehigh's five wins were all against weak teams, but their losses to good teams. This is where Massey ranks them: 89 Bucknell 135 American 185 Lehigh 195 Navy 219 Holy Cross 230 Boston U 249 Colgate 268 Army 271 Lafayette 304 Loyola Loyola has played a very tough schedule but its results thus far are very disappointing. Loyola, American, and Bucknell have played the toughest schedules in the PL by a wide margin.

Are the above rankings some sort of composite? The ones I posted appear on the Massey site to be his current rankings. www.masseyratings.com/cbw/ncaa-d1/ratingsCould you post a link to the rankings you posted so we can determine the difference?

AU was down six after three quarters to number eight Stanford before running out of gas in the fourth--we tipped off against the Cardinal on Saturday about 15 hours after we finished playing Friday night in the opener of the tournament against host Hawaii. Then, playing our third game in less than 48 hours, we were awful Sunday against Florida Gulf Coast (ranked 12th in the College Insider Mid-Major poll). Even though we shot 51 percent from the floor overall and 53 percent on threes against FGCU, we lost by 19 because we had 25 turnovers in 40 minutes. I'm sure I've seen someone over the years have 25 turnovers in a game, but it's hard to remember when.
Our one bad loss was at Denver a week ago. Just didn't have it and got blown out. Otherwise, we've had wins over Tulsa (AAC) and George Mason (A-10), as well as Hawaii. The team doesn't have much depth, but the starting five is very good. Bucknell should definitely be considered the top team in the conference right now, but I'll take my chances against Lehigh. Loyola is going to be in the mix as well, with Stephanie Karcz.

Agree that the performance in Hawaii was impressive, especially the Stanford game (We should not look at the final score alone). AU will be in the mix as well as Loyola which has the talent, but not the results so far.

As the league games start Thursday, I don't think much has changed as far as the rankings go. I'd guess we're looking at something like this: Bucknell 9-3 in ooc looks strong with their best W over Quinnipiac Lehigh 8-3 ooc has also played well although no significant W's, but losses to 'Nova and ND means they've seen top teams American 4-7 ooc, but clearly has played the toughest schedule - good W's over Tulsa, Geo Mason, Hawaii, L's to Stanford, UVA and Penn St. I'll put HC next but with some reservations - really haven't played anyone except BC - We're a mystery but dangerous with a healthy Manis BU 4-6 ooc, has played a tough regional schedule that we should - L's to Northeastern, BC, UMass, Harvard, Dartmouth - they might be ok The 2nd five in order: Navy, Loyola (talented with a terrible record), AWP, Colgate, Lafayette

Agree, some doubts about Lehigh, watched a couple of their games, hard to tell how the will do, Navy, although small, is tough.

Loyola continues to be an enigma - averaging only 51 pts per game, and today lost at home to Navy 58-46. Yes, enigma is right. Loyola has four very good players: Stephanie Karcz, who was 1st team All-PL last season and DPOY and was top five in PL in ppg, rpg, apg, and spg; Izzy Therien, who was ROY last year and 3rd in PL games in scoring; Bri Betz-White, who was 1st team All-PL in 2017 before missing most of last year due to injury; and Alexis Gray, who averaged over 14 ppg in PL games and was second in the PL in threes. Team should be a lot better, but they are not playing well at all.

We're struggling right now-playing without starting PG Katie Marenyi, who has an injury that might keep her out a while. But no excuses-Bucknell beat us fair and square last night. Hope to right the ship during conference play.

BU had the biggest upset so far in league play beating Bucknell easily 68-60 in Lewisburg (lead by 15 after 3 qtrs). They might have established themselves as a factor going forward along with Lehigh (easy win at Navy) and AU (easy win over Colgate). These four seem to be the best four teams through the first week of league play.

I doubt Marisa Mosely felt it was an easy game at that point. Bucknell made a few mistakes down the stretch and missed two open shots. Then Boston made four FT's in the final seconds after intentional fouls. The biggest difference was that Boston U made a high pct on threes - including two that banked in. Bucknell had their worst game of the year from beyond the arc.

The two teams that beat us played today in Hamilton. Colgate beat Lafayette easily 60-49 (led 54-30 after 3 qtrs) - and we lost to Laffy ? Wow

AU has won four straight to jump into that first-place tie at the top of the PL, all without starting point guard Katie Marenyi and Wednesday without starting two guard Kaitlyn Lewis, who injured her elbow Saturday; she'll be out at least a few games. But freshman Jade Edwards has really stepped up since going into the starting lineup; Wednesday, she had 13 points and 4 steals. Fellow freshman Emily Fisher had her best game so far at AU, with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Five players in double figures against Loyola. And, I'm as stumped about Loyola as everyone else. What the hell is going on there?

No explanation for the men's awful, awful performance at home, but the AU women won their fifth straight Saturday, winning at Lehigh, 61-53. Elina Koskimies with a game-high 20, including five of six free throws; on the season, she's currently shooting 93 percent (49 of 53) from the line. Freshman Emily Fisher added 15; Cecily Carl with 12 and 6. Now 9-8 and 4-1 in conference, tied with Bucknell for first after y'all did us that solid and beat BU.

AU wins its ninth straight game to remain tied with Bucknell at the top of the conference, with a 71-66 road win at Colgate. Improbably, we have now won 26 straight games against the Raiders going back to 2007. We needed a program record 37 points today from Cecily Carl to keep the streak going; honestly, Colgate outplayed us most of the way. But we made some big threes in the fourth quarter, then hung on at the end. Now 13-8 and 9-1 in the PL.

With today's results Bucknell and AU have separated themselves from the pack with 10-1 records - they have a 3 game lead over BU and Lehigh at 7-4. we are tied for with Colgate for 5th place with 5-6 records.
