Disappointing game, but We were the underdogs, e.g. KenPom projected that we would lose by 8 and we ended up losing by 11. I'm not writing off the season quite yet.

Was there. Did not share, care or shoot like we can and need to to win a game like this. But - is anyone going to give Harvard any credit at all? Their perimeter D is pretty darn good; Baker in particular was a real pest.
I'm a little concerned AB's shoulder is bothering him (he definitely tweaked it while diving for a loose ball alone the baseline in the second half). He seemed hesitant to put up his jump shot in this game; choosing to up fake and drive instead.
If Amaker cannot win this year or next with this group (and especially if he gets his big 3 back) he should be shown the door. Yes, I know it won't happen.
Not overly impressed with the renovation of the gym - at least the Hart scoreboard tracks player stats. If they even showed it on the jumbotron it was fleeting. Really not impressed with $20 bleacher tickets, or $4 for a bottle of water.
Rear view mirror; on to Saturday.

These people never miss an opportunity to take people’s money. Agree re: gym. I’ve seen much better high school facilities.

NAD pretty much nailed it. Despite not playing well and not wanting to sound like Milan, we really didn't shoot so well today. It seemed that every ball that Harvard threw that hit the rim bounced in and every time we hit the rim it bounced or rolled out. We made a nice run towards the end from, I think, 17 down to 7 down but then ran out of gas. Agree with a prior post that it appeared Carmody was going to lengthen the bench regardless of the score. None of the usual bench guys contributed much to the cause. An impression that I've had for awhile that if AB takes and makes a couple or three early 3's, it ignites him not only for the long ball but gives him confidence in driving to the basket successfully. Got to the game a tad late (thanks Boston traffic) and score was 8-4 HC. Not sure if AB took any outside shots before I got there but seemed he was only going to drive to the basket and usually with poor results against a very tall Harvard team. Hope his shoulder is OK. Was surprised he was put back in the game but both before and after the injury, it was not his best game. CB & Grandy seemed to play the best today. JF offense non-existent. I'll back up NAD that at least some of the results were Harvard's play with a little help from the refs. Harvard was well prepared and our drives to the basket with kick-outs seemed to be well-anticipated resulting in numerous turnovers. Nice contingent of purple supporters and we had the chants going (I noticed some dirty looks from a few Harvard fans but not as bad as Brown co-eds). Oh, P.S. I got me a Harvard T-shirt that will go to either my grandson or granddaughter after I re-check the size. Hardly ever get a Crusader T at the Hart Center. Told the wife: "That's a $50 T-shirt [2 $20 tickets and $10 parking]"

Off night. Harvard got us in the air on D too much. JF had some nice passes and boards but needs to produce more offensive when he touches the ball on the blocks. Shots didn’t fall. Laveites looks better but it was a lipstick renovation, similar to what they did at the Hart. Harvard is good but should be even better with the talent they have. Street parking across the river is the way to go.

You can't win them all. HC had upset Harvard 4 times in a row. Like it or not, Harvard the last few years has been ranked significantly better than HC, to the point where 4 in a row - now 4 out of 5 - is pretty darn good.
That being said, if you want to get an upset on the road, even against a mid-major, you need to bring your "A" game, HC did not. Way too careless with the ball. Partially a function of D - partially a function of sloppiness.
I know that very few on the board agree with this theory, but I claim that the upcoming two weeks are the worst of the season every year. Last week of classes through the end of finals, the guys heads are more focused on academics than hoops. I'm not sure if last night was an indication that the end of semester funk was arriving a little early this year. While I am not despairing on the season after one loss, I'm also not optimistic about two A-10 opponents the same week that those last papers and end of semester stuff comes due.
--------------------------------------
I didn't see the Albany game, but at Mohegan, the bench got very short. Basically a core of 6 with Niego getting some minutes. One game he didn't play in the second half at all. Perhaps because of Faw foul trouble, HC went to the bench a lot more in the first half. Similar to PC, Ziggy got the nod when things seemed to be slipping away. 8th man instead of being behind both Copeland and LeSann on the depth chart. Mostly uneventful, nothing great - nothing really lousy other than a bounce pass going off an opponent's foot. LeSann after seeing no meaningful minutes at Mohegan came in at the very end of the first half, similar to earlier in the season. Not really noteworthy, but some minor minutes. Bench shortened again in the 2nd half until the lead was 17. Even with Butler being forced out of the game after going to the floor hard.
Unlike Faw the freshman, Faw managed to pick up only one foul in the second half after getting 3 in the first half.
Not sure if it means anything, but this is the second time walk-on Yeutter got some garbage time when fellow walk-on's Hart and Lovisolo did not.

Copeland's 11 minutes were more than he had played previously, esp when he was in during the comeback

Late side note that has nothing to do with what happened on the hardwood. From where I was sitting, the HC fans were far more vocal than the Harvard fans. I gotta think the guys appreciate going into an opponent's gym and having their fans be louder than the home fans. Or at least I hope they appreciate it

I seriously wonder what fans from other schools think of the Holy Cross fans. Well, we know what Brown co-eds think.
Do they think we are crazy? Jealous of our loyalty?
Pretty sure the players appreciate it.

There are just a few HC fans which get the "eye roll" from other teams fans. Otherwise, I think they are impressed by the fan support. BC football fans were blown away by the HC turnout.

Well, we know NAD gets the "eye roll" and HC16 is pulling into a close second position. [My compliments to both! ] I suspect I might be a very distant 3rd simply because my voice doesn't "carry" in an arena as well as the other two. I like to think of myself as one who "primes the pump" whether that be " DEE-FENCE," " GO CROSS GO," etc. I leave it to NAD to get the " You, you, you . . . ON YOUs" going but HC92's kids are showing a lot of initiative in this area.

I couldn't give a crud what other team's fans think; life is too short. I do know that the parents I've met over the years appreciated the support their sons get from us; that's what is important to me.

Maybe I can ask cfrivals to whip up some "Purple Eye Roll Society" t-shirts for us. By the way, I urge everyone to get up early some weekend morning and pick up some of his donuts at Rocco's Doughnut Company.....they are the best!
