Cheaper tickets promotions and have some good teams come to Worcester. DCU should have a tournament with Holy Cross in it. Then they can play those good teams on a big stage.

It is all about perception..TV coverage has exploded in the last decade...The casual fan watches games on TV and expects to see those TV teams when they go to a game.."Back in the day" TV coverage was mostly New England, The ECAC game of the week, and maybe a national game...The PL has to get more TV exposure, and HC is heading in the right direction with the NESN deal and Charter TV3...Local viewers who could come to games..
12,782 views!! So the media guys are doing something correct...and the Telegram has an add for a ticket giveaway package in a luxury suite for the URI game.....
baby steps , just like the team!
BEAT UMASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've lived in CMass my entire life and to be honest it's going to be a long haul to get the locals back in significant numbers. HC de-emphasized sports 30+ years ago and the fans of Worcester de-emphasized their interest in HC athletics.
Lack of interest isn't just an HC problem. BC's attendance seems to be down for the most part, especially in their non-league hoop games, and UConn football attendance is atrocious.
I know many of us harp on and complain about the PL but the loss of regional rivalries have hurt big time. The fact that BC, UConn, BU, URI, Providence, Northeastern, Harvard, UMass, etc. aren't regulars on each other's schedules year in and year out is ridiculous.
People here love to crush the Railers but they are everywhere. Their mascot is at every CMass community event and at schools throughout the school year. It makes a big difference. Railers attire is always seen throughout the area. Can't tell you the last time I saw someone wearing a HC shirt or hat.
And now that the PawSox are to become the WooSox...this buries HC even more.
I hope HC can get back to where they were. It would be great for everyone.

Hard to be in the national consciousness when we're not in the Worcester consciousness.

I think it would be great to have a tourney at the DCU..One big problem today is what is the draw? There are so many tourneys out there, especially around the holidays, that are in warm weather/island locations..HC would have to come up with a way to get teams to WANT to come to Worcester.. I would love to see the PL and the Ivy leagues face off in an inter-league type of play similar to the ACC/Big Ten Challange..Not national exposure, but schools NE fans know

In the early days of the Centrum/DCU Center I believe HC hosted some sort of 2 day tournament (sponsored by a bank?). In fact, one year I remember it being held at the Hart (South Alabama was one of the teams).
As for the Railers, I'm guessing they aren't charging $25+ for tickets? If they are, I'm also guessing they have some sort of family deals available.

IMHO it's all about getting kids in the building first; then working on keeping them interested. They don't come out of the womb hating the PL (although some here disagree lol); it's a learned behavior. Did HC do away with Autograph Day? That was always pretty popular. We tend to look at things through our own two eyes, when the eyes of the young ones are the ones that matter....that is, if we are truly concerned about what attendance is going to be like 10-15 years from now. More needs to be done. I look at '92's kids and wonder why there cannot be dozens of them at every single game. They certainly don't look like they are being brought there against their will!

I think there are just too many options. Every team in the country nearly has a televised game. There are games every night without much rhyme or reason. There are dozens of ESPNs, NESNs, Fox Sports, Big 10 Networks, SEC Networks, SNYs, and the list goes on and on for sports. HC isn't the "only show in town." When you are, you win by default. With thousands of choices for entertainment (Netflix, PS4, AppleTV, Kindle, and so on), HC has to differentiate itself to win the battle for peoples' time. It has to be cheaper, more convenient, more unusual, more entertaining, more interesting, and truly set itself aside. If it can't do that, why would people go?

And speaking of entertaining, do we still not have video boards in the Hart Center? $95M+ spent at the top of the Hill, and no video boards?

The good people of Central Mass would never support a tournament. Those days are gone locally and somewhat nationally. You think if you brought in some great Mid majors like Davidson, Furman and Loyola IL people would go? No way. You could do that tournament anywhere in New England and nobody would care.

He's trained them well! But I give him fair warning as I did he same thing beginning 15 years ago. The kids revenge came though in the form of tuition bills since the basketball scholarships didn't quite work out as planned!

There was a real estate article about Worcester in the New York Times a year or two ago. The very first sentence was about Holy Cross having been established there in 1843. Thereafter, there was not a single mention of HC in a very long article. What that said to me was how closely associated HC is with general perceptions about Worcester and what a poor job our alma mater has apparently done to solidify its relationship with the community.
When I was an undergraduate way back in the '60s, I remember a history professor (Bill Green...a one time Delaware football player and Harvard PhD and an outstanding teacher) telling us that HC still got a lot of sports attention in Worcester. Times were different then for sure, but it's time to start rebuilding connections. This promo is outstanding from that standpoint. Let's have more efforts to reconnect HC with Worcester, coupled with the main sports ingredient, winning teams!

Wins like that will help! Was about to say we lost another game we could have won. Also nice to beat that kind of a little upper level team. And MA rival. It wasn't the 51-4 in 1908. But I will take it! U WHO?

I thought Bill Green played at Penn until he was injured and had to give up the game. He then switched from a Phys Ed major to a History major...one of my best history profs, ever (African History)!
