Massey makes HC a 16 point favorite (72-56) with a 90% chance for the win.
The River Hawks are 3-4 (wins over St Peter's, LIU Brooklyn, Fisher) / (Bryant, Cornell, Butler, Seton Hall).

Women are playing well today. Swords is coming into her own. The band sounded great yesterday at the men's game. I wonder why they are not at this game?

The teamwork is impressive and this group is looking more cohesive than some recent clubs.

Lauren Manis reminds me of Amy O'Brien with her bursts of determination around the basket and the skill to execute at full speed.

HC wins 63-54 after getting a bit sloppy for part of the second half (17 turnovers in the game) and letting UML get within 4 points. Manis was (again) most impressive, but she was not alone. HC used 7 players and 6 scored. The only player not to score was Morrs and she had 3 rebounds and 4 assists. HC is now
Hofstra comes to Worcester on Wednesday. Massey makes HC a 7 point favorite (68-61). GO CROSS

Watched the last qtr. Manis simply took over or this could have been a loss. Probably have to play better on Wednesday vs. CAA team, Hofstra 5-2 record is our best after 7 games in a long time

Rollin has a nice shot. Her points and assists were virtually the whole UML attack in the first half. For someone who is only 5'2", she makes quite an impact.

I just watched UConn/ND and I think she could play for either of them. She is very strong, fast and can jump. If HC only had a couple more quality players.....

If you have been watching, you have seen that they do. Not at that high level, but quality none the less. The way you say it seems somewhat insulting to our athletes.

I have been watching HC men and women play, in fact, for a very long time. If it is wrong to wish that Manis and several others did not have to carry the load almost every game, I plead guilty.

While our once-proud program is playing cupcakes in order to accumulate some W's, I noticed two scores this week of New England mid-majors who are challenging themselves - Northeastern (now 7-0) won at Florida by 11, and Maine won at North Carolina by 12 (led by 21 in the 4th qtr).
The point that Manis is really the only top notch D.1 talent is absolutely true. rgs should not be concerned that anyone is insulting our players, the 'eye test', if you watch our games objectively tells the story. I am waiting for BG to compete for the league title this season with Manis and his complementary players

I love her game, but she certainly wouldn't start for those two teams. There isn't a D1 coach in the country who would support your view. Having said that, UConn doesn't have a deep bench, so she might well see playing time.

I am waiting for BG to compete for the league title this season with Manis and his complementary players Thanks for the mini-lecture, delivered indirectly. When you say HC has only one top rate player and could be very good "if HC only had a couple more quality players," that, in itself, is demeaning to every one of her teammates, especially those who play alongside her every game. If you can't see that, then there is little more to say.

Here’s what I reported to my 1970 Classmates:
“The ladies basketball team is on a 4 game winning streak and have a 5-2 record. The team is led by pre-season Patriot League Player of the Year, senior Lauren Manis (6'1") who has amazing stats: 22.4 ppg; 12.7 rpg and 85% free throw shooter. When she is on the floor, the Crusaders are so much better than when she sits on the bench. She is being ably assisted by junior Megan Swords (6'3") with 11.4 ppg and 6.1 rpg. If the name "Swords" sound familiar it is because her great uncle is Raymond Swords, S.J '38 who was president of the College during our 4 years. Another very nice addition to the team is first year student, Avery LaBarbera (5'6") who averages 12.1 ppg; 3.9 apg.”
Laren is a big, big part of the team’s success but she DOES have a supporting cast. She could not win by herself.

Seems about right to me. Swords, especially, is much improved. Pedi and Ezemma are also pretty good.

Didn't we play the Hanging Chads from the Electoral College in a pre-season exhibition game a few years ago? As I recall we won by one and they wanted a recount.
