Manis, in addition to her its and rebounds, had 1 assist, 2 blocks and 1 steal. She was on the court for 39 minutes. ...which is in the long run, not good. Holy Cross used 7 players, I think (maybe 8 but the 8th person hardly played). #22 and #2. Catches up with you at some point.

Holy Cross has three players with double-doubles. ...and somehow, with the score tied in the last 10 seconds, none of them ended up with the ball. That can't happen.

Did not have a chance to see the game but was following it on live stats - an important W for sure with one more very winnable game before exam break. I agree with this light scheduling as this program needs a jump-start after some tough seasons. To illustrate my point on the slate Gibbons and Pine put together, the combined record of the six teams we've beaten (vs. D.1) is 17-30 with URI being the only one with a winning record. our next three opponents are: UNH 1-7, Manhattan 2-5 and Bryant 2-6. There is no arguing this is one of the easiest ooc schedules in the country. We have a very good chance to be 9-2 going into conference play in the new year. And that's ok with me but don't expect any votes in the mid-major poll.

Disagree There are many college players who play similar big minutes Uconn is a good example. Geno has played with a short bench for years. As long as the players are in great condition and the coach eases off from much practice running as the season goes along, there should be no problem

It will fall into the 300's by the time PL play starts. Hard to judge how good the team is at this point.

Labarbera (13 and 13) is a lot of fun to watch, gets a little out of control, but is going to be a good one. Swords (19 and 11) and, of course, Manis (26 and 18) impressive. The three of them didn't get a lot of help. She is definitely an upgrade from last year; amazing that she gets so many rebounds. FT % is off the charts. Too many TOS and poor shooting % so far. Manis and Swords have above 50% shooting percentage while three primary guards are around 30%.

For better or worse, BC, Bryant, Manhattan, UML & UVM have been on the schedule pretty consistently for at least 4 or more years. Don't know if URI was 1/1 and done, or the start of a series. They have played Albany on and off over the years starting when Foley played. Rider and Hofstra I believe are the 2nd games of home & homes scheduled for Doherty & the Jersey crew. Other than Holiday tournaments, which HC has have played in about every 2nd or third year, the schedule is pretty much the same one they've played the last few years. In part, Brown seems to have replace Yale, so the question is, do Dartmouth & Harvard reappear, particularly Dartmouth, who they have previously played nearly every year since the turn of the century.

Let's remember that for some folks if a Holy Cross team has success, it must be because the teams they beat were cupcakes. The idea that young players could be talented and developing with Manis as a spark plug seems to be out of the question. I am enjoying watching this team (which only a few days ago was said to have "no one" with Manis). Now at least some folks admit there may be at least two others who are pretty good.

Avery is the best free throw shooter we have seen in ages - 93% if I am reading the stats correctly. That is critical with a close lead as the game winds down and opponents have to foul.

For the great majority of people, I don't think there is any desire to downgrade them unfairly. But SOS is something that can be measured objectively. It is not a matter of opinion. What IS a matter of opinion is how they will do when they get to tougher games vs PL opponents. That is likely a better subject for discussion. At least four PL teams are much better than anyone they have played in the OOC part of the schedule, except for BC

I had not thought of SoS at all. That number has no real meaning to the players actually on the court, only to those making the rankings. I hope there is no desire to downgrade the team or layers unfairly. I agree, for example, that it is far too early to know how weak/strong this team actually is. However, to see some denigrate any positive accomplishments after almost every one does get tiresome. What I was concerned about was the way the post was worded. It is certainly possible to praise one player and to wish the coaches found ways to get more from her teammates without saying that Manis is the "only quality player" on this team.

Agree to see this team develop and improve which will be necessary to compete with the Bucknell's out there. But there is no question that so far we have played a 'low'-major schedule. It is not true that we cannot schedule better mid-majors if we wanted to. We do not. Next year we should have a schedule that includes the likes of Quinnipiac, Marist, Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Northeastern, when Manis is a senior but I'm not holding my breadth.

Excluding anyone who's injured, who on that team other than LaBarbera, Manis or Swords (and she close in only) do you ever want shooting the ball? 12 went 2-11, 0-6 from 3 point range (and one of the 2 was an absolute prayer that somehow went in). I've seen 3 games now and that seems to be the way it's going to be (I do like #2 I think she's going to have a good career).

Well, since you ask, would say Pedi. She is currently shooting 38% from 3 point range and has a good shot. I think she will get more open looks if teams start concentrating their defenses on our "big 3" players.

It is a very helpful tool and often accurate as measured at any given point in time. I'm not convinced that there are 4 teams that "much" better than anyone they played? Bucknell & American I'll give you, Lehigh, Navy? Not so much

I am not saying Lehigh and Navy are great, just that the teams on HC's OOC schedule (other than BC) are bad. A lot worse than the PL's top four imo. Between the ten OOC foes, they have a grand total of one decent win for the entire season. As for algorithms, I agree none are perfect - and some are awful - but proven ones like Massey etc are reasonably accurate. Enough to get a good overview.

Got it, I don't think anyone would or has suggested that HC's schedule is difficult. I misunderstood your point, in part, but I guess I'm just not as impressed by either Navy's or especially Lehigh's schedule, no big.
