This is a very subjective ranking. Fitton field is my favorite place to watch a football game. You can always get a seat near midfield high enough to get an excellent view of the action. The reviewer’s criticism focuses on the oversized nature of Fitton Field but there are many other stadiums ranked higher than Fitton with a larger capacity such as the Yale Bowl and Harvard Stadium, where, except for “The Game”, have similarly sized crowds as they have at Fitton. My main criticism of my football Saturday’s experience at Fitton field is the tailgating policy where the police literally heard you in and give you the bum’s rush after the game which can ruin an otherwise great afternoon.
FF is an historic place, I believe the second oldest FCS Stadium in the country behind Penn. I would be sad if they took the advice of the reviewer and tore it down to be replaced by a smaller facility.

But Fitton is an historic place, I believe the second oldest FCS Stadium in the country behind Penn. I agree. FWIW, while scrolling through the list you see many fields (most especially Franklin Field where Penn plays) with tracks between the field and the stands. At Fitton you are right on top of the field. A big noisy crowd would make Fitton a great place to watch a game and it would feel more "big time" than many of those glorified high school fields which rank above it.

"Very subjective" is putting it lightly. There is no consistent criteria. I've been to many of these stadia. Apparently, if it is an Ivy League school, they get points for being "historic." Sometimes they want to discuss the surrounding area for beauty, that has nothing to do with the stadium. If they did, the "judges" apparently were unaware that Holy Cross has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Wagner ahead of Holy Cross!? Because it is on a NYC island? What a joke. Dakota Dome because it keeps you out of the elements?
Just throw the names in a hat and pick them out and it would be just as accurate a list.

Could have just listed them alphabetically! Hmmm? " College of the Holy Cross?" Or " Fitton Field?" Pretty sure either would have put us closer to the top.

Georgetown would be at the bottom of the list, even for D3 stadiums. In fact I’m not sure it should be considered a stadium.

This ranking of FCS stadia is a complete joke. It is absurd beyond all comprehension. It's a farce

This is a joke. Tennessee State's home (#55) is an NFL stadium. Or is it their field, and they just allow the Titans to use the place on Sundays?

Why not listen to the authors of this piece rather than criticize the messenger? I do not know about all the Ivies but the relatively young Kraft Stadium at Baker Field is not historic and almost all would agree that it is a whole lot better than the HC Stadium as is the relatively young, beautiful Palmer Stadium at Princeton which far outshines the stadium at HC. Yale and Penn both have recognized the need to modernize and have upgraded with fewer seats their truly historic stadia (or, its it stadiums, Rob?) and these facilities are historic not only because of their age but also for their role in the history of college football. In my mind, historic only counts if it is also a beautiful old stadium worth keeping and many of those old, historic facilities have been modernized and upgraded. Even the LA Colosseum has been modernized and upgraded as have the "BigHouse" at Michigan and ND Stadium among others. Even some of our FCS stadiums though smaller are much nicer than ours. (Lehigh and Richmond for example.) Do any of us truly believe that HC stadium is a beautiful facility? Are we proud of it? Is it more than barely adequate? By the way, and I could be in error, it is my understanding that the field itself ranks second oldest but not the stadium structure. No matter the history, the stadium in my view, is not adequate, and is unattractive and HC could benefit by a new, modern, beautiful facility. IMO criticizing the bearers of uncomfortable criticisms does not help HC to improve. Why not build a new, better, beautiful facility in keeping with our beautiful world-class campus and the high profile of our school? HC should build a stadium all of us could view with pride! LoveHC I would think they could do a lot with the footprint that's there, don't have to rebuild the place totally. Unless those supporting beams have a shorter life span than I think, use them. Cut down the number of rows, especially on the home side and end zone (which segues into my press box comment) The really outdated stuff is, in no particular order: dressing rooms, rest rooms, concessions, press box. Plus if you are going to continue to have seats higher priced than others, perhaps a couple of sections with real chairs. Plenty of room to do that. Or at least like BC where they had padded seats in several sections. Playing surface is excellent, not to trash mm but the field at the Yale Bowl is a serious problem that hasn't been addressed yet. Let's have the new AD get right on all of this!

I like the horseshoe, but change the bleachers to at least some chairback seats. Also make some nice new box seats and nice new play by play areas. Bigger and nicer locker rooms might even get some teams to play there that normally would not.
Concessions, Bathrooms, Stairs all need to be redone.

Oh, shoot! This would all cost money and we are losing our AD that could only raise funds and did nothing else well.

The creator of the list is from RI, may have attended URI, or PC. He doesn't think much of BC's stadium either. He did go to the HC-URI game at the DCU.

The fact that Georgetown even made this list (let alone top 25) renders the entire thing invalid.

I've been to a fair amount of FCS stadia....not one has the sightline that Fitton has....an ugly, aluminum venue, yes....but it does have its charms...it could be improved (like anything) but I contend it's one of the bettah venues/stadiums at the FCS level.

Besides the amenities if there was one thing I could do to Fitton it would be in some way or another to remove/redesign the first couple of rows of seats because it causes obstructed views in the corners. Sight lines are very good, but could be even better.

….agree that ranking G'town's that high is moronic; further, I believe the picture they use is the side of the "stadium" they've already torn down.
