So just a quick public thank you to sader1970, CHC8485, and risaderfan85 for offering up their Bob Cousey bobbleheads for my son who missed out on his giveaway at the URI game. Sorry if I missed anyone else. Sader1970 gave the ultimate sacrifice as he was the first to offer but it was kind of each of each of you guys to reach out. Little Houndini arrived today safe and sound and is in the hidden closet waiting to be wrapped up for Xmas morning.
Happy Holidays to all, Joe

Little Houdini? Didn’t Foreacre refer to Cousy during their Channel 27 games as the “Houdini of the Hardwood?”

That nickname goes back to early in BC's career. A most appropriate nickname IMHO.

No, I “got it.” Was just laughing at the reference. But would be surprised if 4acre was the one who came up with it. As old as he is, pretty sure it predates 4acre’s announcing days.

Sorry, I should have known. I found references to that nickname in Cousy's first year with the Celtics. Apparently it drew on the nickname of an earlier NBA guard, Bob Davies of the Royals:
Cousy's great court vision, unconventional ballhandling and no-look passing earned him the nickname the Houdini of the Hardwood. He thought nothing of throwing 25-foot overhead passes, or shooting 15-foot left-handed hooks. And these passes usually hit their target, as did the occasionally outlandish shots he took at times. However, even though he popularized the behind the back dribble, Hall of Fame guard Bob Davies of the Royals is generally considered the progenitor of the move - not Cousy, as is widely believed.
Davies was the NBA's first great guard just before Cousy, and was called the Harrisburg Houdini. It is likely that Cousy's Houdini nickname was a follow-up to and/or play on that of Davies. Regardless, Bob's flashy style of play was worthy of the magician comparison.

Would love to make it to Worcester at some point when he is around so my son can meet him. He has the same kind of build and tries to emulate that slick playing style as best he can, but also knows the real thing to emulate is being such a humble, stand up guy while stile being one of the greatest (if not greatest) point guard of all time.
