The Jaspers (2-8) are not very good so this is yet another example of the soft ooc schedule Gibbons set up for himself. It's the annual school kids day and an 11 am tip. We should rebound from the tough loss ti UNH.
Maybe next year when Manis is a senior and basically everyone will return we can play some tough early season games. For example, two teams we used to play, Marist and Northeastern played tonight in Poughkeepsie. Both teams are ranked in the top 15 of the latest mid-major poll. BTW, Marist won by 6

Massey has HC as a 10 point favorite (66-56) ad gives us a 66% chance for the win. This is one that HC MUST win (especially with so many potential young and future fans in the stands).

And just like that HC 11-9 after some very sloppy play.

HC 12-11 after 1, they look like they haven't played in 10 days. Sloppy, sloppy sloppy!

This does not even remotely look like D1 basketball.

We're in a funk - up 24-22 at the half. Our guard Madalyn Smith gets a lot of playing time but she is absolutely one of the worst shooters I have ever seen (27% fg this season), especially within 10 feet of the basket - she simply cannot make a layup and is constantly off-balance. I really don't get it, she shows fright whenever she's close to the hoop.

At the half, HC 24 - 22. Manis scores first bucket shortly before the half. Labarbera leads scoring w/ 8, all in 2nd qtr.

HC 12-11 after 1, they look like they haven't played in 10 days. Sloppy, sloppy sloppy! Not atypical. And playing at 11AM is not conducive to good ball either.

55-43, 2:24 left. Last 3 minutes have been as bad as the first half, you can see Gibbons a bit frustrated by that.

61-53 8 seconds left. HC chucks up a 3 they shouldn't have and misses 3 out of 4 from the line to make it closer than it should have been.

We played down to our opponent today - really nothing positive to report other than a W. I hope it was the exam break that caused this performance. Another 11 days until the Bryant game so they will have to figure out a way to stay sharp.

Well, let's agree it was not one of our better efforts - Manis, for example, shot 5 of 13 from the field and 1 of 3 from the line. We committed 18 turnovers (15 from starters). Lafayette beat the Jaspers by 11 in Riverdale earlier in the season. We can (and must) play better to compete at the top of the PL

The experience of the "lower bench" may pay off down the road. (players scoring and 9 players with rebounds...not bad.

Would I be correct that they expect Locke (who's had injuries) and Demski (hurt as well) to contribute? Two of the other players in at the end, not so much.

Demski for certain, just her second game, tore her ACL a year ago, I'm sure they would be overjoyed if the can get 10 mins a game from her. Locke has had about the most injury plagued career of anybody they've had in a while. Any help from here is found money, I think the emergence of Ezemma has likely diminished here mins this year. The player they really had high expectations for this year & to develop as the 2nd scoring option was Faulkner. She has only played in one game so far and the extend of her injuries are unknown other than it apparently happen in practice before the Rider game.

Including maybe 500 adults. Per the web site . . . "Holy Cross will host its annual "Get Fit With The Crusaders Day" on Wednesday, with nearly 1,300 students from 12 local schools expected to be in attendance."

7-3 is a nice Christmas present. Yes, the opposition has had poor records, and no national powerhouses have been scheduled, but after the last several years I think this schedule has been just what the Doctor ordered for the program.
The trick will be to harness the confidence from OOC wins to play well against tougher conference competition, earn home tournament games and be in the best position to get back to the Dance.
