PL women's teams have only lost three more than they have won. Seem to recall much worse records in past years. Is the league ascending? BTW, any prize for the last post of the year?

I think the league is a bit better than it was in many of the past seasons - but not as good as last year. This year it is ranked as the #24 conference (Massey), while last year it was #22 and had a 56-55 record. The league's performance over the last seven years has fluctuated wildly, being as high as #18 (2014) and as low as #31 (2016). Part of the reason for the fairly good overall records the last two years is that most teams don't have strong schedules. This year's SOS rankings, for example, look like this: 82 American 122 Bucknell 166 Loyola 192 Boston 233 Navy 244 Lehigh 298 Army 308 Colgate 310 Holy Cross 341 Lafayette

Gibbons used to be roundly criticized for his slaughterhouse scheduling and annually played Geno's nationally best team and a lot of other top teams. He used to say it prepared the team for the PL schedule and post season and that the players wanted to play against the best. Looks like his philosophy has done a 180.

...perhaps a 90 degree turn (to actually give the women a shot at some wins).

IMO, we have gone too far in easing up on the schedule, as have many of the other league schools. The ooc portion of the season is over and let's take a look at the league in a national context. We really should be much better. Our league rpi is 26th, out of 32 leagues (check out the Ivy at no. 12 !) Most glaring in our 'SOS' ranking - it's Dead Last at 32nd - with fully funded programs at prominent colleges, this not should not be the case. realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Women.html
