HC gets the benefit of a reversed out of bounds call, miss the shot, tied up CU ball, 38 sec to go

8.4 second shot clock differential. Good foul.

Play for the tie with one good shot by Manis, if possible.

Awkward shot then Air ball, not what I had in mind.

Perhaps credit CU defense, but was hoping we had designed play for Manis on our possession.

Ugh, tough loss CU 70-67, HC doesn't get a good three off at the buzzer. Missed free throws & bunnies the last 2.5 mins killed them. Manis only 3 pts in the 2nd half,

Got the breaks down the stretch and did nothing with them. Manis tries to do it alone and is out of control a bit. Coach cannot draw anything up that frees her up. Very bad loss with another game at Laf on Sunday that we should be favored in

This may not be realistic, but I was projecting an inbounds play, similar to a two point conversion play in football, that is practiced over and over and has two or three options based on the response of the defense, but ideally would be pass, pass, pass, cut, cut, pass to cutting Manis who lays it in.
But, I am not exactly coach Norman Dale from Hoosiers in my knowledge so I don't know if a designed play like that is realistic with the defense bearing down.

Are you sure there isn’t one fewer cut and one more pass on that play ?

Many chances for HC to win this...really disappointing loss.

I'm not sure of anything. I was thinking of the Patriots vs Atlanta in the Super Bowl when they had multiple two point plays, practiced and ready to execute, when they needed them.
But I think Colgate played better at the end of this game than the Atlanta Falcons did at the end of that game. ☺️

This is a bad loss and a bad omen for league play...

Agree with the former, not necessarily the latter.

...how about "and it may be a bad omen for league play." It could also be a learning opportunity so that the team realizes that a height advantage alone will not win games.

I believe we had a timeout available at the end of the game. If true there was a major coaching blunder. In the women’s game you can advance the ball to halfcourt when you call a timeout in the last minute of regulation after an exchange of possession in the backcourt. Well, after the missed foul shot we were down 3 with nine seconds left. Our team rushed the ball up the court and got a rushed ‘3’ at the buzzer. If anyone can clarify the circumstances in the last seconds that would be interesting.

The acting AD should knock on BG’s door tmro morning and get his explanation for such an oversight - for all of his apologists out there, what do you have to say ?

Haven't watched the closing sequence, but I guess it's conceivable that he thought they could better look at a 3 in the scramble-up-court situation than off a set play on an inbound from halfcourt on the sideline? Don't let the defense get set, etc. In theory, they practice the "X seconds left, no timeout, we need a 3" regularly.
Very disappointing loss, regardless.

Wouldn't the Senior Women's Administrator be the one to knock on the door? I doubt anyone will knock although you would like to think that chain of supervision is active in support of the atheletes and coaches.
BG was the Bill Belichick of the PL for a couple of decades, then mediocrity took hold. This year was looking like the turn around year until tonight. With apologies to Dan Shaughnessy '75 (Boston Globe columnist for you non New Englanders) perhaps the OOC schedule was made up of "tomato cans" and the team isn't well prepared for PL play.
Or hopefully it is a close loss and they are still a 20+ win team.

Ray, are you nuts ? ‘Every’ women’s coach calls a timeout in that situation to advance the ball with the clock stopped. Admit it, our coach forgot to instruct his players - it’s simple
