FWIW - ESPN's Joe Lunardi has HC as a 15 seed playing #2 seed Michigan State in Columbus Ohio in his latest bracketology. Yes, it doesn't mean a hill of beans but still fun to see, nevertheless. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketologyNote: Sorry - I didn't see the Pomeroy thead below where it was already mentioned. Sorry CMO

I just looked at this bracket. This tournament is going to work out well for us. Let me explain: We go 16-2 and sweep the conference tournament and get a 14 seed in the Hartford subregional. Obviously, there would be a big crowd of Crusader faithful. We win that 3/14 game and it turns out the 6/11 game is an upset, too. We win in the second round and advance to Louisville where KY75 hosts the hordes of Crusader faithful. Sounds like a great March to me. P.S. I am not interested in a study of PL seeds vis a vis regular season records for the past two decades.

Unfortunately with the "POD" System, they would almost assuredly not allow the Crusaders to play in Hartford. I guess theoretically if someone like St. John's had a great year, and got a 3 seed and matched up with 14 seed HC it would be one thing, but more than likely the 14th or 15th seeded Patriot League team will be shipped to another part of the country to play a 2 or 3 seed that would likely be a reasonable drive from their campus.

Holy Cross is only in the bracket as it leads the Patriot League after one game and has the best rankings. The only way Holy Cross or any other patriot league team makes the NCAA is by winninfg the league tournament in march getting the auto bid.

I thought our wins over Stony Brook and UMass had us primed for an at-large.

Apparently whimsy can be as unclear as sarcasm.

Finally, we were way more deserving than Lehigh.

We have only ourselves to blame. While this is just a theoretical prediction, this could have been our honor but if you can't protect your own home, this is what you miss.

The Navy loss hurt more

All wins and losses count the same unless and until you need to go to a tie-breaker. I am pretty sure if we had beaten Lehigh, that would have been more important than having not beaten Navy as I think most of us would agree that Lehigh will have the better league record at the end of the season.
Emotionally, the Lehigh loss "hurt more" because we had a chance to get into a tie for first place and the game could have been won but for some missed FTs.

Navy is a bad team. Lehigh is a good team. It is a worse loss to lose to a bad team than a good team.

Navy was also on the road and Lehigh at home. Let's just say you and I have a different way of looking at things. I won't convince you. You won't convince me. Look me up if we get into a tie-breaker situation.

Note, too, that after beating a bad team today, HC's KenPom dropped slightly.

Our margin of victory was too small. A 15 point win would have moved us up

Dropped in Massey as well. With a poor opponent, the margin of victory does matter. More of our former opponents lost than won yesterday - that is a factor as well.

The bracketoligists pencil in the team currently in first for one bid conferences. For purposes of this thread and who is currently listed by the bracketoligists, Lehigh mattered more because HC would have been ahead of them in the standings by means of the tiebreaker. A win over Navy combined with a loss to Lehigh would have had Lehigh over HC.

How relevant are bracketologists, esp in mid January ?
