That is cringeworthy.

I have been critical of Berard as well as some of the twitter posts coming out of the athletic department in certain circumstances. This one bothered me at first but i have changed my mind with a little time to reflect on it. The kids are working hard and I’m sure trying their best. Why not celebrate an accomplishment even a fairly trivial one in the grand scheme of things? Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age. The results under Berard have been mediocre to poor and this season has been an unmitigated disaster but it doesn’t really bother me that much if the coach wants to put out a positive tweet in an effort to rally the troops in the midst of a very difficult season.

My issue is that it’s not a 1-off motivator for this team. Berard has always done this after wins. IMHO, it just sends a stupid message to the team that they should get together to take a celebratory picture after winning a fairly meaningless (in the gran scheme) game in November, for example. Berard’s postseason results have indicated that he has not prepared his teams well for the games that really matter, and continuing to do stupid crap like this indicates that he may just not get it.

If we do it after every win, then my opinion may change again. I’m like the Mitt Romney of Crossports.
