DeChellis absolutely owns Carmody.
Carmody is, in his career, 7-18 against DeChellis. 3-6 at HC and 4-12 at Northwesrern.

Just in from the game. Was as bad in person as it was on tv. Sloppy play, could not get seaparation from them in second half when got the lead, despite a couple chances. Give Navy credit, they played good tough D. The stripes were bad, both ways. Got to regroup and get ready for Lehigh.

While rebounding obviously a problem, we also just shot terribly today. Missed a lot of outside open looks and it seemed like a ton of layups went up too strong or came off the rim. 36.7% from field and 25% from 3pt isn't going to win many games. One of reasons Navy had so many rebounds is we missed so many shots. We only had 11 assists because the shots were not going in at all today. Also, having JF play only 4 minutes in the first half contributed to him taking so few shots. Surprisingly, even on a bad afternoon, we were a hair away from winning. It will be good to be home on Wednesday but Lehigh won't be easy.

With JF on the bench, we have a bunch of sophomores playing a lot of minutes. They will throw up a couple stinketrs, and did today. Live and learn! Would have preferred a win, but still like our chances.

While reading the T&G this morning I noticed that every one of the Central Mass teams that played yesterday - 7 D II and III - lost their game. Little did I expect that HC would share in that misery.

One of reasons Navy had so many rebounds is we missed so many shots. True, but the number of rebounds is far less telling than the percentage of available rebounds a team gets. Navy got 30 out of 33 possible rebounds at the defensive end, an astonishing 90% (an average team gets 74%). We missed 33 shots, and rebounded three of them. Even for a team that doesn't care about rebounding at the offensive end, that's shockingly poor.
But, as always, the problem is worse at the defensive end, where every team cares (or should care) about rebounding. Navy missed 41 shots, but we only got 24 of those misses, a miserable 58%. (Again, an average team would get 74%.)
We've been very fortunate that this serious defect in a fundamental aspect of the game hasn't cost us until now. Holy Cross is the worst rebounding team in the conference, at both ends - but, truth be told, most of the rest of the PL (including Bucknell and Lehigh) is mediocre, so we might not pay a heavy price when all is said and done. We'll see.

Hate to say it but it’s going to be a long year !!!! Why, because they played poorly and lost?

Hate to say it but it’s going to be a long year !!!! Yes, and likely a very successful one. This was an embarrassing loss no doubt but I think we will bounce back. We have a talented team.

Every team in the country is going to have poor shooting games, but good teams find a way to win those games.

Course, we are 10-5. Could be worse...could be 5-10. Need to be much sharper, for sure, but against low major D-1s we're 9-2.
Getting Connor back soon would sure provide a nice boost.

It could always be worse. In our last two wins, rebounding and 3 pt shots saved the day (even after some short misses). Today, Navy seemed to control the boards. We need do better on the boards against Lehigh...for sure.

There will be very few, if any, opportunities to get the new guys some playing time.

Maybe as a freshman Hargis has more upside than a junior?

Maybe as a freshman Hargis has more upside than a junior? Fingers crossed that he doesn’t follow the same developmental path as Le Sean, Zignorski, Charles, Cohen, etc.

Actually, what I meant is that there won't be any blowouts (either good or bad) when BC might consider playing the frosh. I think it's already pretty apparent that they won't be playing in close games.

For goodness sakes, we all know who to blame for this loss . . . . . . Nate Pine! Why do you think he left Holy Cross? P.S. Coincidentally, since Nate and I (and probably others here) are LinkedIn connected with Nate, today I got an offer to congratulate Nate for 5 years at Holy Cross. I decided not to do so under the circumstances. Finally, for those who don't "get" me, I am being sarcastic in the first statement above.

Awful game from Butler. He takes 12 shots to five for Floyd. Asinine. Our lack of depth is beginning to rear its ugly head. We get nothing from Copeland and CLS. HC did not play a forward off the bench. And Benzan played 30 minutes. So they were playing "short" most of the game. Has to catch up with you at some point.

I think that it is entirely inappropriate to compare Butler with Hochstein, Vicens, et.al. He may walk with a swagger but his game is not up to his swag. He is quite young and should try to maintain his confidence but he has a lot of practice, shooting drills and learning to do for him to reach his full potential. Try to stay positive. LoveHC How can the biggest Butler supporter compare him with those guys anyway? He's a GUARD, dammit, and he's 6-5 like Vicens was 6-5 (which he really wasn't). He doesn't have the inside presence of a player like that.

We need do better on the boards against Lehigh...for sure. Lehigh's a bad rebounding team, too, so much more concerned about their shooting prowess. We'll need to defend the perimeter very well.
