My personal opinion is that he hates the Irish Catholic roots of Holy Cross. McCarthy is his adopted family's name. Bet you didn't know that! . . . . . . . . . . That's because I made that up.

Maybe he's "black Irish" as my older relatives said Irish Protestants were referred to by Irish Catholics back in the day.
I just heard a sportswriter, Kevin McNamara of the ProJo discuss URI bb on the radio. He said the A-10 is weak this year, he projects URI must win the league to get to the NCAA and the A-10 will have only one or two picks. He said the new NET which replaced the RPI, heavily favors road wins and to get to the NIT a team will have to be in the top 100 in the NET rankings. Final thing I recall is he said the Ivy league is 12th in RPI this year, the strongest they have ever been and Harvard has scheduled way up in their OOC schedule which has helped propel the ranking.

My father, who was only 1/4 Irish (Mom being 4/4ths Irish ) was a history major at Holy Cross and talked of a classmate, whose name escapes me, who was "black Irish." Dad said that his classmate was 100% Irish with an Irish name but was neither fair skinned and had black hair. He always told me that these Irishmen were called that because they were descended from the very few survivors of the Spanish Armada who 1. made it to Irish shores and 2. weren't slaughtered by the native Irish. I never heard it referred to the Protestants. Here's what I found but this was just one theory and interestingly the Irish themselves don't refer to anyone as "black Irish." www.irishcentral.com/roots/history/who-were-the-black-irishAs for McCarthy, I'm sticking with the "couldn't get into Holy Cross" theory.

Marques Wilson has been reportedly "sidelined" by academic issues. Second semester hasn't begun at Lehigh, so unlikely he will be reinstated for tonight's game.

Lehigh has won five of the last six regular season meetings with Holy Cross, including two of three at the Hart. Of course, HC did have the better of things in the PLTC in 2016.

I'd guess it is unlikely we'll see him at all this year. Second year in a row for Lehigh, as Ed Porter, their juco transfer, became academically ineligible at Christmas last year.
