Assume Don Matheney is your referenced player. He left HC and walked on at OSU and got into maybe 3+/- games when they got to be routs. Not sure that qualifies as them "owing" us but, then again, you may be referring to another player. It really doesn't matter whether he became an all Big-10 player at TOSU or whether he was a practice player who only saw a few snaps when Ohio State was murdering Kent State or Louisiana-Lafayette, What matters is that Don might well have become a big contributor at Holy Cross. We lost much more than TOSU gained. Of course, no school "owes" another school for transfers--it's just an expression... We're way up on Ohio State University . Tim Galloway came to HC from Ohio State as a junior transfer and was part of the star-studded Coach Carter lineups of '82 and '83. Galloway was drafted by the USFL. (There were many reasons why that '83 playoff team was great...a transfer from Ohio State and a transfer from LSU [Gill Fenerty] were just two of the reasons.)

Definitely could have used him at Villanova as our D Line was beyond banged up heading into that playoff game. We also lost valuable time from him as a soph when he broke his leg against Georgetown. And was supposed to room with him the semester he left for OSU as my roommate from that fall left for DC program. Long story short, wound up moving from Healy to Loyola for that spring with a friend whose roommate had sort of last minute decided to go abroad to Australia -- only six month abroad program we had when I was there.

I am thinking of Gil Fenerty's 337 yard, six touchdown day vs Columbia at Fitton Field when HC won 77-28 and Coach Rick Carter used 96 players to try to keep the score reasonable. Yes, transfers can help Holy Cross.

Imagine what a team with that caliber of players (heck, even the kicker was great) would do in the PL?

Yes, transfers can help Holy Cross. I'd settle for his first HC game (196 yards, 2 touchdowns v a very good BU squad who made it to the second round of the playoffs that year)...heavens knows how many yards he would have gained v Columbia if Coach Carter had not sat him.

When was the last time Holy Cross football had a contributing transfer at ANY position? I’m thinking back to 2006 and not one individual comes to mind. We had 3 (2 fr Grambling - Chico Stewart and Dave Thompson - and one from an AZ Community College - Sammy Siaki). How about Gil from LSU.... That was a pretty good one.... 1982
