Pomeroy ranks have ZERO to do with attractiveness to viewers This statement contradicts itself. If a team sucks (and is lowly rated by Pomeroy, or anyone else), it's not going to be attractive to viewers. It's silly to assert that the Big Sky, America East, Ohio Valley, etc. offer something that truly sets them apart from the Patriot League. "We'll take a league with Idaho St and Southern Utah, and one with Tennessee Tech and SIU Edwardsville, but we're going to draw the line at Lehigh and Lafayette!!" Dumb. I agree with your line of thinking, BBC. The PL should be selling/marketing its product to the higher-tier, more-reliable, wider distribution channels. If nobody will take it, pay ESPN+ to do it as an investment, and hope it pays off dividends with butts in seats for home games, wider school recognition, better athletes, pie in the sky, winning lotto tickets, whatever. Get ambitious.

You have no clue whatsoever how attractiveness to a broadcast outlet works. Ah yes, from the expert who thinks that ESPN+ has pre-roll and display ads.....

I said "broadcast outlets". Did I say ESPN+ specifically? No I didn't.

Hey-- It's all about viewership. The broadcaster would rather have 50,000 fans watch two dreadful teams play poorly than have 49,999 fans watch the game of the century.

Actually, having worked in the ad business both buying and selling time, I can tell you it is not like it used to be. Back in the day the Big East for example, had their own network of stations in which the league and the individual stations sold time. Today when even the little sisters of the poor are streaming games, it is not so much the specific teams or leagues as it is the aggregate of leagues an entity such as Stadium has to offer. Among others Stadium has the WCC, and MWC conferences. If you watch any of those games you will see the same ads that you see in the PL games. Basically Stadium is selling a college basketball package. At this point I think they would take any league that wanted to join the party...the more the merrier. As to who pays who in this situation, I do not know. Obviously leagues in which there is limited interest cannot command big bucks. So if Stadium pays the PL, it is not a lot, and the PL may well be paying Stadium, but again not a lot.
I do have to say that I am baffled by Stadiums business model. It would seem to me that it would make perfect sense for them to simply say that Stadium costs $4.99 / month, as opposed to some games (in fact a minority of their total games) will cost you $4.99/mo. The money is not unreasonable, and in fact a few years back we were paying that amount for PL All Access, to get one camera, considerably less than hi def computer video of games.

I said "broadcast outlets". Did I say ESPN+ specifically? No I didn't. Ah gotcha. Should have just assumed that your response to a suggestion that the PL should use ESPN+ for distribution wasn't actually about ESPN+, and was about other broadcast outlets. But because ESPN+ is essentially ad-free (with no pre- or post-roll and no display ads), those hurdles wouldn't prevent the PL from getting on the platform.

I wonder if the Patriot League's deal with CBS precludes an arrangement with ESPN+.

I wonder if the Patriot League's deal with CBS precludes an arrangement with ESPN+. Perhaps, but the CBS deal is almost as bad as the Stadium deal. Monday night games and the Patriot League Championship on the nearly invisible CBS Sports Network -- awful. Both deals should be ripped up.

One advantage to Stadium is that up until 2019 it was free. Right now you're stuck with Stadium because of some contract. Contracts don't live forever. When this one expires, maybe the league will explore ESPN + since Stadium has lost the appeal of free viewing

Tom, that would be my question. When does the contract run out?
I'm luckier with those folks than most people, apparently; only remember one 5 second glitch in last night's game (the picture actually sped up for about 10 seconds in the first half).

I had the same experience as you, Tim, using my trusty old Dell desktop lol. Like others, I did have the audio issue. I also experienced the momentary 78 rpm thing....I was thinking "who says we aren't quick!"
