Bucknell is going to play man-to-man start to finish. This works to our advantage, and makes it easier - incumbent, really - that we get the ball to Jehyve as often as possible. Option A, 12-15 shots. It depends on how they slide and stop cutters, which Navy did and Lehigh did to a degree in the second half. They clearly aren’t playing as well as Lehigh but this is a 6 team race for the top with any team in the league capable of beating another on their home court. Top teams are AU, BU, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Lehigh (alphabetical)

Another solid game for Austin Butler. The tape came off his shoulder last game and he has responded with two solid efforts--like the AB of freshman season.

JF has 2 blocks in the last 4 games--has he totally intimidated the first four teams?

Teams are attacking others, such as Matt, with similar results

Imagine if Duquesne had Togo alum : Imagine if Oklahoma had Kaftan🤩 Point being, THIS is the year (because we have Floyd)...a few posters think that we have several sophomores getting big minutes therefore we'll be better next year. Big back and forth on this on a previous thread. Nothing about last-century players on that one.🤩 A few of us have repeatedly made the point that Floyd is the huge PL mismatch we have (not any of the sophomores). Need to see more shot attempts by Floyd in order to win (another previous thread). Next year we don't have him...we may be Lafayette next year. Spot on. Some have said we’d be better next year and especially that our offense would be better without Floyd. Due to better spacing I believe was the opinion? Maybe our 3pt shooting will be better? That’s about it. No more losses to Kenpom 250+ or to PL teams at home. Need to have home court advantage in the PLT and win this year.

It was not the matchup that was at fault. It was the lack of communication and poor close outs. I understand.
But since it was not being properly executed and over and over Lafayette's top shooters were getting open looks, don't you think a MTM just for the closing 4 min might make just a little bit of sense?

Until the last minute our d was OK. They scored 11 points in the last minute. That was when our D was bad. Obviously CBC looks at man to man only in desperation when our main defenses have put us behind by a fair amount.

Lafayette apparently does not like playing any offense within about 18 feet of the basket. There was no reason not to play more D outside but this game was not really close. They look like a contender for last place. Colgate thrashed Lehigh today and Boston U. may be tough.

Coach kept yelling to the guards "not to help" on D..He wanted them to stay out on the shooters, our guards didn't do a good job of that..Trying to do too much, they wanted to hedge in and step out..Couldn't do that quick enough to prevent the 3's...(and many were deep threes). I thought HC played a very solid game. Shot it good and no empty stretches. On D, a pretty good effort, just those pesky 3's late! It seems to my eyes that HC is getting to the boards more than they did in the OOC..Grandy, Faw, and Butler seem to be doing a better job of putting a body on the opposition on the D boards...Floyd is playing at a different level, he looks like he is flying most of the time...Caleb, he tweaked an ankle in the 2nd half, stepped on somebody on the bench after hitting a 3, is really improved at getting the hoop and FINISHING! Faw is growing his game, especially on D...AB needs to play within himself, he tries to do it all, and makes some foolish plays..I love his game, but how many times is he going to run into a 3 point shooter!! I think he is getting on Coaches nerve!! Former players at the game today include Ricky Mashburn, Dr. Jim Narius, Ron Perrry Jr..and Roger Breslin..Rogers Daughter sang the National Anthem today, a very powerful rendition..I hope she comes back!

Hey, lets remember the referees today. Actually let them play. Contested plays on rebounds, both teams, called all season, let them play tonight. Well done, let's get these guys back!

Except for the stinko (63%) effort at Navy, Holy Cross has gotten 80%+ of the available rebounds at the defensive end in each of the other three PL games, which is very good. They didn't do that once during the OOC.
Faw and Grandison have a higher DR% in conference play than in the OOC. Butler's is lower.

Refs were very good compared to what we usually get. They were pretty consistent throughout and let some stuff go both ways. I liked them because they called the same game for all 40 minutes.

We can make a statement on Monday.
So far, we have beaten two of the teams figured to finish in the bottom half. Lost to one in the bottom half. Lost one in the top half.
I was in Lewisburg today and the Bucknell offense has problems. Kimball McKenzie really didn’t play well. If it wasn’t for a couple of late threes by Sestina, this may have been a loss today.
Bucknell’s ranks eighth in the PL through four games. We may be getting them at the right time.

The free throw rates (FTR) for Holy Cross (327th) and Lafayette (352nd) are among the lowest in the country. Not many fouls to call when neither team draws them. Historically, this has been true for most of Carmody's teams, and I suspect for O'Hanlon's as well.
Bucknell is the best team in the PL at getting to the line. The refs will be more active Monday night.

Is that for PL games only ? If so, that is not indicative of the multiple OOC games, and thus not too meaningful

In PL games, Bucknell is 8th in offense and 4th in defense, using the Pomeroy metrics. For all games, they are 3rd in offense and 2nd in defense among PL schools.

Do you really think that they are more efficient offensively than only two of the PL teams, which must include some of Army, Navy, Loyola, Lafayette ?
