A member of our 1967 class, Brian was a tremendous person! I didn't know him that well but at our 50th in 2017 we had the privilege of spending some time with him! Though he was not well at that time he was very courageous and outgoing! At the end of the Saturday night reunion events my wife and I found our way to a small gathering where some fellow classmates were providing some musical entertainment. We got to talking with Brian about many things including songs from the 60's, 70's,etc. As we were leaving Brian took his backpack and pulled out a folder of CD's, all properly labeled, Jr. High (slow), Jr. High (fast), HS (slow), HS (fast), etc., etc., and gave them to my wife; he said "I want to give these to you"! On the way home we popped in a CD and "Roses are Red" (Bobby Vinton) reminded us of many good memories from years ago! We still have those CD's and play them often. They will now have more meaning and will always remind us of what a thoughtful, caring and wonderful person Brian was! Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers! www.capecodtimes.com/obituaries/20190106/brian-thomas-kavanaughFrom Holy Cross: I regret to inform you that your classmate, Brian T. 45 -
Somewhere in my old HC scrapbook/keepsakes I have a Telegam pre-season football article with Dr. Anderson pictured between then top frosh lineman Bill Morris and Brian Kavanaugh in uniform. AIR, Morris was said to be 6'3" 235 and Kavanaugh 6'2" 245....very big kids at that time not only for HC but all of college football. Kavanaugh in particular was expected to star as a sought after recruit.
Regretably, time moves too fast....

Great guy. Gentleman. I have fond memories of Boo. In the mid/late 70s my father met Boo at a Holy Cross Club meeting on Cape Cod. Subsequently Boo trained me for several months in the weight room and on the track as I prepared for the HS football season. He imbued a work ethic and life lessons on me that I carry to this day. Prayers for him and his family.

I was Brian's roommate in 1963-64 and 1965-66, and have all sorts of memories about him: first seeing this awesomely big football player on my first day at HC, how he once leveled Floyd Little in the 1965 HC-Syracuse game causing the all-star running back to fumble the ball away, his enjoyment of the Boo Radley character in To Kill a Mockingbird, his losing bet to RGS of this board in the Liston-Clay fight, the time during junior year when he and the late Jack Dahlstrom decided to take their dorm mattresses outdoors to sleep under the stars and then forgetting where they'd left them, his first date with his future wife, and later visiting them when Brian worked at the old Lyman School. When I saw Brian at the 2017 reunion, he told me that he didn't expect to live much longer because of health problems, but accepted it. May he rest in peace.

All great memories! He was a good person and never "dull" to be around. May he rest in peace and his loved ones find comfort with good memories of his time with us.

Dick Joyce was the Purple Key guy greeting cars at the top of Linden Lane, I was impressed.
