Not much good to say about today's game! A carbon copy of our game at Navy, maybe worse! Lazy passes resulting in turnovers, poor officiating both ways! Just when I thought things could not get worse... And, the concession stand was just as bad!  ! Our pickers did not do any better going 42 for 120! (35%)! However, kudos to "thecrossisback" (really wish they were) for going 4 out of 5!  ! American U-- The Eagles win with their offense/shooting. Team is 0-6 when shooting at 48% or worse and 8-3 when at 50%+ on eff fg pctg. Same thing (no surprise) for Offensive Efficiency with AU 0-6 when at 102.1 and lower and 8-3 when 102.3 & higher. Iorio was 1-7 on twos as AU managed to lose to Lafayette--don't know what happened there. BU's defense is at a horrendous 112.6 in league play. AU has won the last 3 games between these teams and the 2 wins last year came in a 3-15 PL season. In the first game this year AU shot 75.7%, BU's worst defensive effort in 4+ years. BU needs big offense to win with a record of 7-1 when off efficiency is 108+ and 2-9 when 106.4 and lower. AU's defense is at 102.7 in PL play. Freshman Stacy Beckton has gotten more minutes of late and has been playing very well
Holy Cross-- Crusaders need a big shakeup after the embarrassing loss to Loyola. We've got to do something about the sloppy, pathetic, limp-wristed, anemic, passes that are picked off so easily. I have to think the coaches have seen in watching film what we all saw live against Loyola. Loyola had 13 steals against us. We had 15, but that's not the point. Let the opponent play like that while we protect the ball. HC is 10-3 when our turnover % is 19.0 and lower and 2-5 when it is 20.5 & higher. Per KenPom, HC has the highest correlation between TO% and scoring of any PL team. The same goes for offensive rebounding: 11-3 when we get 20% or more of our misses. Army has been winning on the free throw line. In its 4 PL wins, Army was 55-76 from the line while its opponents were 18-27. Amazing. We cannot let Army have such an advantage today.
Bucknell- Bison are 12-1 versus Loyola since the Greyhounds joined the conference and I see that lead increasing today.
Lehigh- Lehigh is 11-0 versus teams ranked 161 or lower and Navy is ranked #305 in KenPom. Navy has won 3 of its last 4 games, improbable as that sounds. Navy's eff fg pctg of 45% is #334 in D-1 and although it's improved to 49% in PL play that is still #10. Navy's home court advantage is calculated at #352 in division-1. Navy depends on offensive rebounding to win--needs extra shots to compensate for the terrible shooting--team is 0-9 in its worst OR games and 6-2 in its best. Lehigh has the #1 defense against offensive rebounding in PL play while Navy has #1 offensive OR. It will be interesting to see what happens there.
Colgate-- Colgate is 11-3 when offensive efficiency is better than 98.2 and 0-5 otherwise. Colgate is 11-4 when it shoots at 50%+ . In PL play Lafayette is #10 in opponent's eff fg pctg at 57.4%.
