There has been no mention (that I remember) of the HC defense. Shutting out a team for a period and a half after giving up 10 goal to that team in 2 1/2 quarters sounds impressive. Was there a change in personnel?

Was there a change in personnel? This is second hand knowledge as I was only following the game via Live Stats...One of my colleagues' brother is a defenseman for Harvard and so he went to the game despite the temperature. Holy Cross initiated a zone defense for the second half resulting in very few shots and a number of shot clock violations. In the first OT, Harvard managed to get a shot clock violation right off the faceoff. I agree 100% the defense has to be a story here. Huge effort! (Harvard called a number of timeouts but couldn't seem to find a strategy that works. I've heard a 1-4-1 attack with a guy up top seems to penetrate a zone well)

Thanks for the analysis/guesswork. It sounds like this team could be a good one. I believe Loyola will even things out a bit.

Harvard won the face off to start the period but turned it over right away. They turned it over another four or five times over the rest of the period. The most important thing I found was that HC possessed the ball continuously from 10:52 remaining to 4:44 remaining. Saders scored twice during that time to get it to 10-9 and kept Harvard's offense out of the game. So, while the defense stepped up every time it had to do so, this was also an example of the best defense being a good offense.

Our FOGO player was another essential part of the comeback. Fantastic performance to win so many faceoffs which resulted in our time of possession

Was there a change in personnel? I just looked at the box score and noticed we won 22 of 26 face-offs. The defense may have changed and been better, but this win falls squarely on the shoulders of Dan O'Connell. Without him, we lose.

John Madden would be ashamed of you! This may not be football but it also isn't basketball that has to be played in an enclosed environment.

Don't know but the title of the thread is:
"Spring 2019 Mens Lacrosse"
hoops, despite being born and raised on LI that was big on LAX, while I watched a few high school games 50+ years ago, I never got "into" it. But, then again, I even watched some futbol matches as well.

My point is that it is absurd to play lax outside in Feb and in early or even mid March either make southern trips( I realize many southern schools do not play lax) or play more weekday games. Lax certainly does not need a week’s recovery period as does football

And, if Nate made the indoor football practice field just a wee-bit larger, we could play LAX indoors! Couldn't have cost more than a few million dollars more. Good thing he left for the AFA! After all these years, you still don't get my humor. That's OK, I'll keep trying . . . . after Lent.

Lax certainly does not need a week’s recovery period as does football Why? Players don't mind the cold, and it doesn't affect the play. My kids all played soccer in conditions like you find in Worcester in early March. Didn't bother them. In fact most pro leagues play soccer all the way through the winter.

Should fans be a factor at all,? Is the quality of play the same in 10 degree wind chill as 70 ?

Should fans be a factor at all,? Is the quality of play the same in 10 degree wind chill as 70 ? Is football played at the same level when it’s 20 degrees and snowing versus 55 and sunny? Based on experience, lacrosse is a sport that can be played in multiple elements.

Last I checked both teams played the game in the same stadium, at the same time, at the same temperature. Let me know when one team plays the game at a temperature 30 degrees above their opponent.

I shot a lacrosse game last Monday over at Anna Maria. They took a 30 minute halftime with the brutal conditions as it was mid-20’s and wind gusts over 50 mph. The week before that I had a men’s game at Wheaton College, here is a pic I took from the game http://instagram.com/p/BuUAPSfAlU- There is no reason they start playing the first weekend of Feb.

I should make the point that there was about 300 people at the snow game at Wheaton as besides the snow it was a pretty nice night. The snow just added to the fun!
