Well that would explain a lot. No need to fire him. Not coaching the rest of his remaining contract. They just don't extend his contract and he's gone. No need to terminate him or buy him out.

Time to start a thread for the ‘next women’s coach’. It’s a good time to make a change as the entire team comes back next year (the two seniors are deadweight). Too much losing and one too many suspensions (leave of absence - whatever)

The state of Holy Cross Athletics is a dumpster fire. If you told me when FADDR was fired that we would be hitting a new low 4-5 years later I would have called you crazy. The Luth is lipstick on a pig. It’s time to fire everyone at the top. REALLY DISGUSTING! At least the tangible evidence of the Luth will satisfy historians that there actually was an ADNP regime in between FADDR and whatever iteration is ahead for HC. If the historians have to rely on performance stats, they wouldn't believe there actually was anything between the FADDR regime and whatever iteration is yet to come. The continuing chaos should be of real concern for devoted HC alums and fans.

Yes, and Coach Mac has half a PL season and the tournament to prove herself. If the players respond with fresh energy and sharper execution, I hope she is considered for Head Coach.
I thought the announcement of the suspension by Holy Cross was a bit stark. I wonder if the suspension is paid or unpaid.

IIRC, the previous time, there were allegations by two players, not one. The parents of the second player litigated the matter, and HC settled when plaintiff's lawyers sought to depose the BoT. The litigation was initiated, in part, because HC was moving slowly in its investigation of the allegations made by player 1. Player 1 was never identified to my knowledge.
CBG suspended himself. Soon thereafter, he attempted to hold a news conference of sorts at the Hart and was escorted out of the building. He subsequently organized a letter-writing campaign among fellow coaches and supporters primarily from the Greater Worcester area, the letter being addressed to the TPTB.
His reinstatement was more about him unilaterally ending his voluntary suspension. I myself also think HC allowed this to occur as the litigation was on-going at that point. IMO, it was an unholy mess, in the true sense.
Previously, IMO, there were serious lapses of judgment by FADDR with respect to an adolescent fils having a role in the HC women's basketball program and summer camp.
My belief is that ADNP kept him on a very short leash. It would be interesting if the action(s) that led to the investigation and suspension occurred when Pine was transitioning to the USAFA.

Thanks, Ray. I had thought he had at least more more year. It is a sad state of affairs for him and for HC. Good luck to the women this weekend and for the rest of the season.

I wonder how much digging the local media will do to uncover the real story here. BG is a Worcester guy and he seems to have parlayed his relationships into a sort of insulation to protect his reputation

BG is a Worcester guy and he seems to have parlayed his relationships into a sort of insulation to protect his reputation Like it or not, men's athletics are more popular than women's athletics. I predict the local media will do less digging than they did for the guys suspended from the men's team last year. Actually, less digging than last year would require negative digging so it could possibly be equal at zero. Note to Phreek - Either adolescent fils is a term I am not familiar with, or your auto correct is running amuck. I don't follow the ladies that closely and have no idea what we're talking about. If appropriate for a public forum, please enlighten. In terms of summer camps, I don't think it's uncommon for incoming freshmen and maybe recruits to work these camps, especially for younger kids. In this context, do high school kids count as adolescents? Not being snarky, but sincerely ignorant

I'm wondering if it were some sort of request by BG for a contract extension that in some way, shape or form, ended badly (for him). Maybe as simple as BG: "I want another year or two so I can show recruits I am going to be here for a while....". HC: "We think you should announce your retirement". BG: "No, I won't". HC: "We're moving on. Best for all concerned if you leave now". I think purplehaze is right. The team next year will be in tact plus a few new recruits that will contribute right away more than the fine young ladies that are leaving are contributing in 2018-19. Plus, Murphy, Morris, Faulkner and Demski should be healthy from the get-go, we hope. Should be a good situation for the incoming coach. And, yes, while I thought "Coaching Candidates" wasn't an appropriate title for the men's board (although, I must admit, as this stretch of terrible play continues, I'm warming up to it a bit), it is for the ladies.

from today's T & G - I now doubt that BG will surpass Barry "With 613 career wins, Gibbons is the second-winningest coach in Holy Cross history and trails only baseball coach Jack Barry, who finished with 616."

The prior litigation can be followed here. www.courtlistener.com/docket/4352969/cooper-v-the-trustees-of-the-college-of-the-holy-cross/Federal court records cost money (a lot of money) to look at on line in the PACER system. PACER users can allow a non profit service called RECAP to upload documents that they buy. You can look for free at the documents that say "Download PDF." Of course, it is entirely possible that BG's new problem has nothing to do with the old one about which we only know the player's side as the College never had to publically address the issues.

Why do I have a feeling the girls on the team are relieved that they won't be seeing BG at practice today ?

Who signed already and who didn't? The ones that signed need HC to release them if they want to leave w/o being ineligible for a year? Or has that changed? Yes, the fall 2020s are free agents; of course, they are whether he comes back or not.

And the team has lookes pretty good this year. Certainly better than the hockey and mbb programs. Maybe time to press the reset button with the new AD and some new winter coaches

Two previously announced as signed, Flaherty & Cross. Am I right that they can't leave easily? Not trying to express an opinion on this one way or the other, just asking. IIRC back when Milan Brown got fired, a recruit left and played for Iona right away (he in turn left there too, but that's another story for another day). Did the recruit sign and then Carmody/HC released him; or had he not signed yet?

Tim, the short answer is it depends, HC may refuse to release, but I would think that would be unusual, so if asked out, likely would get release.

And here's a recent example that goes the other way. The girl from Medway, Childs, was a long-time commit to BU. BU changed coaches, she ended up staying, and is playing a lot. So sometimes it works out for both sides.

If they ask for release best to let them go and let new coach try to re-recruit them. In Proctor's case HC initially refused thereby alienating him and family making whatever slim chance they had to re-recruit him go away. It's a very bad look to try to force a recruit to stay after a coaching change.
