So foolish and misguided that it is almost beyond belief.

Fwiw, this may make it more difficult for Albany, Stony Brook, Buffalo, and Binghamton to get into future exempt tournaments.

This seems to raise a lot of questions
Can Albany (or any other publicly funded NY school) take a guarantee game in the state of North Carolina if the guarantee covers the travel expense so that no public funds are used for the travel?
If not - and the guarantee money goes into the school's coffers and the school pays for the trip - will these schools be forced to decline an NCAA tournament bid if their assigned game is in the state of North Carolina?

Will the NCAA schedule a tourney game in NC? It seems like there are opening round games in the state of North Carolina every year. Games have already been scheduled for 2017 and 2018

So foolish and misguided that it is almost beyond belief. Getting political No, at least not political on my part. Should Albany decide to not play in NC until the LGBTQ issues are resolved, I would have no problem with it. For the governor to try to gain a political boost by deciding by decree who can play there is not, IMO, a good idea. Why would that be any better or worse than having a team from NC play in NY. It was not these teams/schools that created the issue.

What If Cuomo decides,to prohibit travel to an already scheduled game in some other state because he doesn't like their stance on sanctuaries for illegal immigrants or voter registration policy or any other issue?

I appreciate the reminders from others, though sometimes feel the reminders are meant more to mock the decision to take politics off the table than remind fellow posters.
That said, the topic is relevant to general sports discussion, so as Judge Wapner might say, I'll allow it.
I will warn everyone though, that 137's post is the type that can easily push others over the edge of the slipperly slope, so beware. You may find yourself warned and posts deleted!
Carry on. Carefully!

Is anyone from New York, travelling at least partially on public funds, allowed to go to Florida on USAir? Almost all flights layover in Charlotte, NC
It feels good to stand up for social justice, but this could become like something dreamed up by Pandora

The NBA is following suit and has pulled the All Star game out of Charlotte This will put more pressure on the NCAA to switch sites for early round games in 2017, maybe 2018
