In 1988 the Boston Red Sox were foundering in fourth place when the Manager, John McNamara was replaced with bullpen coach Joe Morgan (BC '53, hockey and baseball) who was named interim manager. "Walpole Joe," a lifelong resident of nearby Walpole, MA famously told then Red Sox owner Mrs. Jean Yawkey "The word interim isn't in my vocabulary," as he proceeded to reel off twelve straight wins, 20 out of 21 and 24 straight at home to guide the Sox to a fist place finish in the American League East.
Holy Cross Athletics could surely use a turn around story like this from our local interim WBB head coach. Let's go Crusaders!

A horse-racing term, I think, but maybe Morgan just liked the way Bogart said it in "Maltese Falcon."
