I could not fail to mention hat HC trounced CCSU 20-3. The team is now 1-1. Congratulations.
The men lost a close 7-9 decision to Vermont and they are now 0-2.

No Belichick magic when it comes to lax - bad loss today at Villanova 17-5 and the team is now 1-5 - PPhreek probably has the details but I believe there is a fair amount of title IX schollie money in this program - it has not been close to a championship in a long time and just another example of a team consistently underperforming.(the most recent season with a winning league record was 2012)

Last season was chosen 9th preseason, finished 6th, made playoffs for the first time since 2015. At least wait until the PL games before labeling this season underperforming.

Spending of $875,000 was about $500,000 less than the average spending of the three highest spending schools: BostU, Lafayette, Loyola. The difference is about the equivalent of about eight full scollies.

Great...but was it a close call at the end?

Holy Cross was ahead, 11-7, with about 5 minutes to go in the game. Lafayette scored the last three goals, the final one coming with 23 seconds left in the game. HC won the following draw and was holding the ball when the game ended.

Now 3-7 (1-2 in PL) after losing badly to Army today 19-13 (awp's first league win). next facing nationally ranked Navy. Simply another example of subsidizing a program with title ix schollies (albeit partials) and we are stuck in mediocrity - maybe coach Belichick can get a job from her father as this is not working out very well. This is her 4th season and likely not a playoff squad. Her only playoff appearance was last season, losing to Lehigh.

Can she be blamed when she has only partial schollies to give out ? How many PL schools have full schollies for women’s lax ?

Pine hired a name, not a coach. Look no further than an incredibly average — if not bad — record at Wesleyan in her previous job.
Where have we seen this before?

Nobody is giving out full schollies for lax except army and navy (this is only AWP’s 3rd year as D.1 program)

Nobody is giving out full schollies for lax except army and navy (this is only AWP’s 3rd year as D.1 program) Curious how you can tell that. I know from the govt. site that Loyola, Boston U, and Lafayette appear to be close to fully funded - tut I can't tell if they split all the scholarships or give some full rides. The others less so, with American trailing by a big margin. HC is clearly not fully funded, but has added a lot of spending over the past two years.

FWIW it has been my experience that women's lax scholarships ( 12ish full-schollie equivalents for 'fully funded' programs) are always split up among the participants.
(That has nothing to do with financial aid to athletes and is not meant to imply an equal division of all lax athletic schollies amongst all lax team members)

Must people here take a sh*t on every coach in the school? Becoming the Fellowship of the Miserable (copyright, Rick Pitino) on this board.

Must people here take a sh*t on every coach in the school? Becoming the Fellowship of the Miserable (copyright, Rick Pitino) on this board. There has been a total of 5 teams that finished with a winning record since the start of the 2014-15 school year. Anyone who is happy with the current state of Holy Cross athletics is delusional.

I am new to the board, but am shocked to read the criticism of the women’s lax coaching staff. The current group of seniors were recruited by the prior coach. Despite not being fully funded nor having her own receuits, the team qualified for the PL tournament and was one goal short of advancing. Hopefully, those with negative comments have attended a game or two and have seen first hand the quality of lacrosse that our HC girls play game in, game out. I am certain that a progress and success is measured more than W-Ls. Head Coach Amanda clearly has the priorities in line with 30 of 32 players achieving All Patriot League academic honors — graduating 100% of the student athletes. goholycross.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=1020811&SPID=157235&DB_OEM_ID=33100&ATCLID=211719328. goholycross.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=1020811&SPID=157235&DB_OEM_ID=33100&ATCLID=211735796Coach Amanda is winning where it counts, in the classroom and with the girls. Given the improvement in the quality of play, the on the field results will materialize in the near term as well. So i say three cheers for having the program on track and in the proper direction. See you in the stands.

Thanks, njcrusader - we all share your passion for any of our teams - let me just say that the PL is full of accomplished student athletes who graduate on time - that’s why we belong in this league. It is not unfair for us fans to watch the results and look for teams that can compete for league championships. Let’s pull for coach Amanda and the team to finish strong and qualify for the playoffs
