I noticed after a long absence*, HC is one of the sites for some MIAA State Final basketball games.
No idea which games or any other details except they should be the weekend of March 15, 16, 17.
Should be a good venue....there aren't that many games any more that require a larger place.
**too long! Last time I remember a tournament game there, Matt Palazzi was playing in it. I'm sure there were a few after that.

The last MIAA tournament game I can remember was Holy Name of Worcester playing Holyoke in a state semifinal game probably 15 years ago at this point. Might have been more sprinkled in since but not many if at all.
MIAA is using hockey rink as well for games.

Central MA tournament games are usually held at WPI. One time I remember WPI having a conflict and moving the district finals to Hart

Worcester State has become the preferred CMass venue. WPI I believe will host lower level divisions this year.
Hart Center is perfect size for state finals in Massachusetts.

The school I taught and coached at (Quaboag Regional HS) played in the State Finals at HC in 2014 I think..Pretty much a full house for a D-4 HS game...
The dates posted above look like they are for the State Championship Games..The MIAA site (HS governing body in MASS) has those games listed as TBD as for site and time..

Depends on the schools...Hart probably works for most but there have been HS tourney games I've gone to in the last decade or so at the Gahhden (EMass Finals) and Centrum (State Finals) that were attended by more than the 3.5 to 4K the Hart can hold.

Good to see HC managing their assets to generate revenue. The two new hockey rinks at the downtown Railers hockey center must have reduced demand for rentals of the Hart rink and the WooSox may put the Collegiate Futures League team that plays at Fitton Field out of business. So good to see the Hart being productive.

Tom Gibbons (Bill Gibbons' brother and former HC assistant men's coach) lead the Wachusett High School boys team past Framingham in the Central Mass D-1 Quarterfinals Thursday and play Algonquin on Sunday at WPI in the Semi-Finals

So good to see the Hart being productive. Somewhere out in bankruptcy land there is an asset of the Worcester Tornadoes for 25 years of rent free use of Fitton Field. I've always assumed the Bravehearts wound up with that asset. The school might not get any money from the Bravehearts

You know, the renovation of the baseball stadium "Hanover Park at Fitton Field" or whatever it's called, might be the best deal Holy Cross ever got after the Quonset Hut that is now in process of demolition today.
Watching some of those spring baseball games down south on streaming and our baseball stadium looks like a lot of those though a bit (not a lot) smaller. Gotta be one of the best in the Northeast (which may not be saying much).

Tornadoes might have been rent free for a year or two but I don't think they were for the entirety of their existence.
However with the amount of money they put into that baseball facility they should have.

That was a horrible deal if they poured that much money into someone else's field for only one or two years

...if they made that field (not the football field) turf, they could make some $ on it renting it out. It's probably the surface of choice for college baseball in NE these days too, seeing as they try to squeeze a bunch of games into two terrible weather months.

That baseball field complex in Northborough cleans up in the Spring renting to college teams for high prices. I don't remember exactly how much, but I read it one time and my eyebrow (just have one long one) shot up.
