A component to this argument is going to be as follows. He's entering his second year of being the OC with a monster schedule and an unsettled QB situation. It's not like Murphy is dealing with Ciacco, Wiley or Randolph at QB. The jury is still out and I certainly wasn't crazy about the first 6/7 games of play calling. That said the QB situation is the most important position on the field and its hard to do what you want if you don't have the guy you want to fill that position.
This board isn't always fair regarding the presentation of facts, but, there is a but......

Well, if you don't have a QB you don't run an offense that depends on the QB.
Good coaches adjust to their talent and find ways to get the ball tot their best skill players (how many touches did Bell have last year?). We will learn a difficult lesson against Navy (and most of our schedule) unless changes are made.

Maybe Murphy isn't the one to blame, but I just don't understand the direction we are headed in.

I actually do understand. They just got the #20 recruiting class in the country. They are entering their first year with their own recruiting class. They have their philosophy. They ended the season strong with 4 wins in their last 5. They didn't quit.
Still a lot of work to do, and time will tell. I also firmly believe they are actively pursuing a transfer QB and that could change things.
They have a coach in there who can certainly move the needle in recruiting. Any good coach will tell you they've never won without talent. So that's the first component. Get in more talent. Then get the guys you want to help with the way you run your program. Then hopefully win a couple of PL titles and make some noise in the FCS tournament.
One step at a time. We've been down for a little bit. Let's have some patience. The #20 recruiting class in the country is a damn good first step. Let's see if that translates to another Top 20 class and a 6-5 or 7-4 record. Personally I'm more excited about the future than I have been in a while.

Just thought of something. TB12 probably would not have transferred to FCS, but still keep pursuing that opportunity please.

I think it was pretty clear last year that the OC was not a good play caller. End of Story.
