wjactv.com/news/local/video-shows-playerfan-encounter-at-cambria-county-war-memorial-that-led-to-chargesOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Video obtained by 6 News shows an encounter between a Northeast Generals player and Johnstown Tomahawks fans that led to two patrons being hurt and the player facing criminal charges. Police say 19-year-old Michael Higgins faces simple assault, recklessly endangering and harassment charges as a result of their investigation. Higgins is seen in the video shoving the metal scissor barrier that separates fans and the players while the teams head to the locker room, following Saturday's Game Two at the 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial. Higgins said in an affidavit, obtained by The Tribune-Democrat, that he hit the barrier twice after someone cursed and spit at him. The video obtained by 6 News does not show any of the actions alleged by Higgins, and fans at the scene said they saw nothing beforehand that deserved the reaction. Higgins has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Holy Cross, according to the North American Hockey League. According to the team's stat sheets, Higgins played against the Johnstown Tomahawks in Wednesday night's Game Three in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He did not dress for Game Four on Thursday, which started hours after Johnstown Police announced the charges. The Generals apologized following Saturday's game. Both the team and the league said they were aware of the charges against Higgins, but would not comment any further about disciplinary action. Brennan Mihalick, Acting General Manager for the arena said he and the security staff are investigating the incident and looking at changing security protocols for future games, but commends the actions of the staff for preventing the situation from getting worse. "They acted quickly and kept it under control," Mihalick said. He also advises fans coming for Game Five to keep Hockeyville civil. "Keep in mind it is just a game and we're all here to have a good time," Mihalick said.

Perhaps it might be prudent to remove any posts that attributed actions to the "wrong" Higgins?

Just call the Needham kid Pinky after the Sox Mgr/GM. Or after George "Pinky" Higgins, SJ. who taught Constitutional History at Holy Cross. He had every copy of the Sunday New York Times ever printed stacked in his office in O'Kane and would launch into praise of the gridiron heroics of Bullet Bill Osmanski at the drop of a hat.

Yep...and no question HC's Pinky got the nickname from the Sox' Pinky.
