I’m afraid we’re going to run out of pitching in this one - Lopes has been our most effective reliever this season but he has gotten knocked around recently - imo, will need an unsung hero (or heroes) to get this game

A weak hit ball down the 3rd baseline and a very lackadaisical effort by the 3rd baseman going after it turns into a double.
And then he makes a throwing error on the bunt which scored the runner.

Holy Cross down 5-2 in the ninth inning brought the tying run to the plate with no outs in the inning. Peter Dudunakis struck out which was followed by the weirdest play according to the live stats, Wolf flied out to cf, SF, RBI (2-2 BFFBFF); Gionis out at second cf to ss; Volpi scored.
How the heck does the potential "fourth" run get doubled off in the ninth inning when down by three runs?
Army ended up winning 5-3 as that ended the game.

Lost 5-3. Down 5-0 after 6.5. Single runs in 7th, 8th and 9th—not enough. Wait till next year.

Best of luck to the seniors as they move on.
If next year's team is to win the PL they've got some starting pitching holes (created via graduation) to fill and the need for power hitting is apparent.

Wow, that’s very bad baseball and almost an unthinkable baserunning mishap in that situation. Trailing by two runs, Gionis’ run is meaningless at second base. What a way to end the season.

year-end observations: = 22 D.1 wins with this roster was an accomplishment and I'm basically talking about the lack of pitching depth after the 3 starters (one of whom had a very slow start) = Gionis is the only starter (from the 8 everyday positions) graduating, so again next year will depend on the development of our pitching staff = I feel for any player who had to be on the field until 12:23 this morning in those conditions who has an exam today (after waiting all day with 4 adjusted start times, very unfair and worth some discussion if this circumstance occurs again) = if I understand correctly that financial assistance for our baseball players is very limited, this season with an 'above .500' record after the southern trips can be considered a success.

End of game like ending of a few TG led football games, but we also had game 2 with an unusual positive pick off at 3rd base to get us to game 3.
This team was great to cheer for during it's late season playoff drive. I'm glad the students had an opportunity to watch a couple of games on Saturday on a perfect baseball day. The Fitton Field complex is a great facility right on campus for Baseball, Football and Softball.

Baseball is one of our best teams (v PL competition). Eyeballing the pitchers it seems Coach DiCenzo leverages a built-in advantage we should have in recruiting northeast Catholic School kids (Regis, Chaminade and Saint Sebastian's are the sources for our top three pitchers and the injured and very talented Danny Barlok is a St John's guy, for example). Kudos to him.
