Blossom has an impressive background. We'll see, but appears to be really good hire.

New AD looks good, and should understand the culture.

Marcus Blossom if BC the new AD If this is true, based on his bio on the BC site, he has strong credentials for the AD job at HC. Academic All American at Northeastern while playing Basketball, as well as solid D1 experience at several schools including our competition at Providence and BC. Waiting for the official announcement, but as stated, I would like to be among the first to welcome him to Mt. St. James. bceagles.com/news/2014/9/16/Blossom_Named_Associate_AD_For_Business_amp_Administration.aspx

Just received the e-mail from HC Athletics confirming Marcus' hiring. Happy to see they hired someone with lots of relevant experience from schools that have a similar combination of academics and athletics as Alma Mater. Go Cross Go!

I also appreciate his basketball background, which I believe should still be our marquee sport.

Now that Blossom has been named, I’m curious to hear more from those who claimed to be ‘in the know’ earlier this week and were suggesting that the hire was unqualified.
His resume seems to check a lot of boxes: he has been rising through the athletic administration ranks, presumably has a nice network of contacts within New England particularly, and played D1 basketball. He was also an excellent student and can relate to that balance as required at HC. That’s all very compelling in a candidate.
Interesting, his weakness appears to be a lack of exposure to the football side (snicker snicker BC), but hopefully we have addressed that near term need with the Chesney hire.
But please, tell me why this guy is unqualified, since you clearly know more than the rest of us.

The only nit I can pick based on his background is that he tended to be associated with the finance side or finance department in each of his stops. His schooling is in finance. Raising funds and spending the dollars wisely is super important, obviously. But we gotta win too! Best of luck, seems to be a good hire, let's have this be a watershed moment in the latest age of HC athletics.

No single individual should bear the burden and pressure to elevate our Athletics program on his/her own.
Welcome to Worcester Marcus and I hope for your sake, ours, and the college at large that your tenure here is long and successful.
For that to happen, I might only hope that Marcus truly gets ALL the support necessary from all other divisions within the college and especially the other members of PB's Executive Committee. If/when everybody does not share the vision of a true commitment to athletic excellence, then you could have an AD who can walk on water and we will still under perform.
In order of priority, I would think Marcus needs to address the following:
1. Hockey East 2. Men's hoop coach 3. Women's hoop coach Let's Win!!

Lots of experience in finance not as much in running an athletic department. Is this Nate Pine 2.0?
