In the transfer portal is a Lafayette kid with a Lafayette degree in front of him. He is transferring to some make believe school called Drury. Sure kid, it's gonna matter when you are 50, or even 30, or 25 for that matter, that your ass isn't completely nailed to the bench and you can say that you played "college" basketball.

In the transfer portal is a Lafayette kid with a Lafayette degree in front of him. He is transferring to some make believe school called Drury. Auston Evans is a grad transfer who can't remain at LC for a fifth season. Given that he scored just 14 points all season for Lafayette, a Div. II school isn't a bad place to end up. Drury is not a make believe school. It has an enrollment of 5,474 students and won the 2013 NCAA Division II men's basketball national championship. Last year's team finished 21-12 with a first round loss in the NCAA tournament.

I believe the player in question is Auston Evans. He was a senior this past season, presumably just graduated and so is a grad transfer.
So to answer the question in this case is Nothing is wrong with this specific kid.

I don’t consider this a “transfer” if the kid graduated. Might be just me but transfer for me is undergrad to undergrad.

Nothing is wrong with that move. Kid is getting a graduate degree paid for at least half of it...
