Agree with RGS, this will not be obvious to people in Topeka or Tupelo or Toledo or the Twin Cities. I don't have a major problem with the map of Massachusetts but it really doesn't serve the purpose you think it does. At least not from my experience traveling around the country for many years. But I recognize and accept that before we see a Crusader back on midcourt there will have to be a change in the Administration . . . . . which can't happen soon enough for me. Send Gordie to an accelerated course at the Jesuit Seminary and get him in there as President?

You seem to believe that people outside of New England have even a clue about the shape of Massachusetts. ...as to Vineyard or Stockbridge, they don't have any idea. The map would serve a purpose if it brought more Mass fans who identified with it to the Hart, but that does not seem to be the case. Those "old fans" from times past would, IMHO, make a stringer connection to the classic "Crusader" that they saw for so many decades. (...and a shot might come from the tip of the lance, or the tail of the baler with just as much meaning as a geography reference.) I have no opinion on the map in the center court. A Crusader, or even a shield, would be better but not a big deal to me However, I would sincerely hope that the vast majority of people would know the shape of Massachusetts. We're not not asking them to tell the difference between the outlines of Colorado and Wyoming. Are we assuming that most of the viewers outside New England are still in elementary school? People should know this Yup, that guy from Antwerp Belgium tuning in to see his favorite player's college won't get it, but I would expect that 99.9 percent of high school graduates in this country should know the shape of Massachusetts

Given my experience, your expectations are quite high. Do you remember when over half of the members of congress could not correctly identify the location of the outline shown of INDIA? (The most common answer was Africa.)
Geography was dropped as a course decades ago and we now see the result.

I would be willing to bet that outside of Massachusetts, not only would 99.9 % of high school graduates in the country but 99.9% of college graduates in the country would not be able to identify the shape of Massachusetts. Tom, your expectations are much too high.
I'd almost be willing to bet that 90% of Massachusetts residents would not be able to pass this "test." Not picking on Bay Staters especially but as RGS posted above, geography is sadly a lost "art." Don't be fooled by the college contestants on Jeopardy. They are the exceptions, not the rule.

Rob, my expectations of members of Congress is lower than the general population. After all, many of them are lawyers by profession. (I kid, I kid!)

I don't care if center court has a Blutarsky "COLLEGE" logo, as long as the home team is winning.

Colleges and Universities are moving away from the cartoon depicted mascot as part of their branding image. For example, Fairfield University image for their athletic teams was a Stag’s Head in motion. Fairfield was the host of the Lacrosse Quarter Finals in East Hartford last month. The image noting Fairfield’s sponsorship was a modified letter “F”. Scroll to the discussion on the Fairfield Stags Proboard on May 19th. fairfieldstags.proboards.com/thread/5611/ncaa-lacrosse-quarterfinal-round-hartfordfairfieldstags.com/index.aspx?path=mcrossLooking through a number of college web pages they are using a simpler and cleaner look. Throughout the Ivy League, 4 of the 8 schools no longer have a cartoon image depicting their athletic teams. The change in images is a marketing decision by the schools to lessen the confusion when other schools may have a mascot with the same name. An example is the Wildcat mascot. Neither Villanova nor Kentucky use the cartoon cat as their image identifier. I remember when at Villanova, the image was of a wildcat surrounded by a V. That image is rarely or no longer used by them to displayed their brand. villanova.com/ukathletics.com/searchresults.aspx?&q=&sa=Search&cof=FORID%3A11#1141A change in HC administration will not bring back the guy on a horse. The branding images for athletics are being influenced in the headquarters located in Beaverton, (Nike); Portland (Adidas); and Baltimore (Under Armour).

(The most common answer was Africa.) Geography was dropped as a course decades ago and we now see the result. Well that's embarrassing. Says a lot about Congress I think my expectations are right where they belong. Lowering my expectations because too many people don't meet basic minimum standards is a bad plan

Fair enough, but expecting knowledge and finding ignorance is seldom, if ever, a good thing.

Our VC page has the four entering freshmen as having enrolled and on the official team roster There is only an opening for one assistant coach at the current time. Two assistants are holdovers. What happened to the third assistant? Did he find a landing spot somewhere?

Metzendorf went to Michigan as DOBO (IIRC).

While Kennedy has been persistently re-tweeting Holy Cross-related news, Owens hasn't done so in over a month - instead his tweets have been variations on the theme "sometimes you need bad things to happen to inspire you to grow." He also now identifies himself only as an assistant coach, not a Holy Cross assistant. twitter.com/freddieowens?lang=en

Metzendorf went to Michigan as DOBO (IIRC). Oh yes, thank you. I've been meaning to open that thread. I bet our performance against Michigan last year did not hurt his cause. That was a well coached HC team on the floor that night.

One holdover assistant would seem to be the norm...am in no position to judge the relative merits of Kennedy versus Owens

Looking at the roster and given Chris Ls size, wondering if he can play a role in the new system- whatever that might look like? Given he briefly played in one game I was wondering if anybody saw him in practice and if so do you have any thoughts?

I haven't really seen him at all, but based on the fact that he's a walk-on, I am assuming a very minor role. Although I am assuming that given the current make-up of the roster, walk-on Yeutter will be forced into a bigger role than a typical walk-on

I saw him play in high school, but that was two years ago. He showed real potential, but I cannot say how much he has developed. When I saw him, he was not a player who stood outside and fired 3s. He liked to mix it up under the boards.

Just speculation of course??

In an email for season tiks this morning the release says that we are returning 3 starters. Now since Butler and Faw are two, who is the third ? Grandy ? It also says we return 11 letter winners. That also does not add up unless Grandy returns

If Jacob is coming back (which imo would be a great thing), take Caleb's slot and fill it with a Brandon Wade transfer; then bring in a Noel Brown type guy with CLS's slot next year. I would be really pleased with a roster like that.

Hard to see cousins competing with each other for 3 years (B. Wade and D. Lowder)

At least as interesting as Jacob still being on the roster is that the coaching staff includes all holdovers. If one or more was leaving, we would know that by now, wouldn’t we?
