MAAC Tourney being held in Atlantic City ? Yes, it will be played there for at least the next three years. The same place in Atlantic City hosted the Atlantic 10 tournament for a number of years. The MAAC over the years has had its tournament in many places, but the only place where they didn’t lose money was playing it on Siena’s home court in Albany. However none of the MAAC schools was very happy about giving Siana a big home court advantage every year.

True, for the teams. but the Siena fans are the only ones who go to the tourney when it is in Albany. no fans go to any of the other sites

The arena is fairly empty when other teams are playing. For those who don't follow the MAAC, in addition to Albany the tournament has been held in Bridgeport, Buffalo, Trenton, and Springfield over the past 15 years. And now Atlantic City.

There might be a little of that, but the biggest reason for leaving Albany is simply how much the other coaches hate having to play every year on the home court of Siena. That is why the league has tried so many different places. It's almost 85 miles from Monmouth to Atlantic City, so there won't be many Monmouth fans there unless they surprise and have a strong team. Boardwalk Hall is almost as close to Rider, which is one of the two co-hosts for the event.

Why does it take us so long to release our schedule?

Why does it take us so long to release our schedule? Gives our opponents less time to prepare....

LOL ...only if we don’t let the school know they are on the HC schedule.

Maryland sure is playing a lot of New England schools in its OOC schedule - Holy Cross, URI, Fairfield, and Bryant. There is also the possibility it could face Harvard in a tournament 2nd round game.

Not only is Albany the home city for the only school guaranteed to draw, it also happens to be a good geographic center point in the sense that its reasonable travel distance for both the NY and Buffalo-area schools.

I was at that game. HC was returning to the east coast from San Francisco, which was when AVB's back issues began. Believe Pat Doherty was also injured. The season was derailed after that. Through our first ten games that year (8-2 with losses to top 25 Dayton and a great Siena team on the road in OT), we looked like a squad that could've seriously challenged Maryland. They ran us off the court that day, starting with a 25-5 run IIRC. Our last game in OOC was a surprising loss to Sacred Heart on the road. We then lost to Lafayette, who finished last the prior year, to open PL play. That 07-08 team was probably the best last place team in Patriot League history at 5-9 in the conference. We split with EVERY TEAM except Colgate and Navy, who both swept us. Our 1/8 quarterfinal matchup with eventual conference champ American was literally a toss-up. Torey Thomas and Keith Simmons never won a game in Sojka for their entire careers, but that last place team won there on ESPN2 in 07-08. Then they turned around and only scored 39 points at home against a dreadful Army team. That was a really bizarre team. Screw you, Calhoun.

Other than Bucknell players, no players on any PL team won a game in Sojka during that four year period. Bucknell was 35-0 in league games during that four-year span.

Finally, some official confirmation, more or less, of the Boca tournament:
No mention of specific HC opponents other than FAU.
