For me, I'd like to see somebody who has an interest in defense as a means to score..Somebody who is looking to push tempo and use a lot of bodies...An aggressive approach to the game at both ends, and an outgoing personality...

Just a thought--College basketball has become less about X's and O's and more about recruiting; if the coach doesn't have a big personality that can compensate for lack of brand name (ex. Ed Cooley)--whoever this new coach is, as vein as it may be, should have a "big" institution somewhere in the resume that will resonate with high school kids today: played at a powerhouse, assistant coach at a powerhouse, time spent in the NBA, etc.

Someone who is not averse to leaving HC at a tough time or being fired after one season.

While it's more important at Duke and Kentucky, we are never going to have a coach who can recruit the type of players/athletes who can win on their own. Having a skilled COACH who can make the whole greater than the sum of its parts is the only way we will ever be successful again. The last three guys were not capable of doing that.

Please no coach who doesn’t want his team to rebound. Also I hope to never hear “Princeton Offense” at HC again!

Look down the hall to the football office as to what is needed for MBB.

Recruiting is critically important for any coach for any team. I remember during the big down-turn in the program's fortunes during my soph and junior years, Bob Cousy was interviewed and asked what was wrong with the program, what HC had to do to turn things around. He answered simply "You need to get some better players". I agree 100% on the need for rebounding and defense, for the X's & O's, but let's make sure we get a coach who can recruit.

would a veteran coach be interested for less than a 5/6 year contract?
especially if there is just one departure from the current roster at the end of the season.

He'll be starting with, talent-wise, no senior class, no sophomore class and no time to replace any incoming freshman who decides not to attend.
