All the baseball chatter of the nickname thread put me in mind of the song "Van Lingle Mungo," which Dave Frishberg penned fifty years ago. The story goes that Frishberg had a bossa-nova style melody written, but was having trouble coming up with words for it - until one day he started skimming through a baseball encyclopedia. Problem solved.
The lyrics consist of the words "and," "big," and the names of forty players from the 1940s and 50s. A classic, worth a listen again in the middle of another year of the summer game, even if you've heard it before.
