Thanks for the link. I do feel in this case the college succumbed to a well-intentioned minority. However, I am not sure how keeping it going will be of any positive benefit.

The College has made its decision. Points have been made back forth by many posters.. Discussion has thoroughly aired this issue.IMO, it is Enough!. LoveHC

I have no doubt that at some point down the road when the political winds shift atop Mt. St. James that we will see the Crusader logo rise from the ashes once again.
I do like the fact that many recruits, most likely unknowingly, often post the Crusader when revealing their commitment online.

The biggest joke of it all was the big announcement saying "We are crusaders, we kept the name!" Donations poured in. A couple of months later "We are removing all knight imagery from campus". Thank god I did not bite on donations (unlike some of my classmates who are really regretting their donations). BRING BACK THE CRUSADER WITH SWORD AND SHIELD!!!!

Don't feel bad. If you were concerned that dropping the Crusader mascot was bowing to what some people consider trivial concerns, the Oxford MA Senior Center is changing its name to Social Center because the term "senior" could be perceived as derogatory to people of a certain age

This looks like a far right wing, anti-Muslim publication

"Sorry, honey, I checked on-line and there is no senior center here--there's something called a social center, but I don't want to go to a place with a lot of screaming kids. We're out of luck".

So the left wing bias of the NYT is preferable? I find the content of any article more important than the source from which it comes...but that is just me.

Why would you say that? I once loved the "old gray lady" but the paper not longer has anything like that standard in what (and how) it covers events. I still judge the articles there individually to check their merit. Heck, I have even had some of my students publish things in the NYT.

This looks like a far right wing, anti-Muslim publication All kinds of things can be spun. I was recently sent an article about something in Congress that someone found outrageous. I did a little fact checking and found articles from both sides saying the other side of the aisle was horrible in this instance. Imbedded in the stories I found some actual facts. I get a little leery when I see a source like this one. Even if you hate the Times, they at least claim to be an unbiased news source. Here's another example of how one story can be spun in totally opposite directions

Folks
And while the topic is germane to Holy Cross, it has been beaten to death. IIRC this blog was even linked to in the past.
And when the discussion turns to messenger rather than message, it's getting into the political realm. Time to let it go.
Thread is now locked.
