Big third down catch for Kalif to move the chains.

I hate to see an employer that over-exploits an employee. That employer is begging to be "held up," I hope Kalif's agent has the cajones.

I hate to see an employer that over-exploits an employee. That employer is begging to be "held up," I hope Kalif's agent has the cajones. You're exhibiting a fundamental lack of understanding of how the NFL works. Look at Malcolm in the NBA for an example of how this could work out for Kalif. But it's going to take more than a couple of good games.

The degree of physical risk is quite different between bball and fball, especially at the pro level--and especially for kick/punt returners. That's a difference between NBA and NFL. That weakens the analogy between Kalif and Malcolm.

That weakens the analogy between Kalif and Malcolm. What would you have him do? Hold out? He’s a 5’8” 4th year receiver with 6 career receptions. He’s living his dream. He is not going to do anything to screw that up. The Titans see value in him so hopefully he’ll make more money next season if he makes the team. He’ll be on the bubble in every training camp for the rest of his career.

That weakens the analogy between Kalif and Malcolm. That's not even close to the point. The point is that it's a razor's edge that separates Kalif from a dozen other guys with the exact same skill set. Right now, he's the one with the job, and a chance to stick in the league. As 92 says, if he walks in and demands some sort of long-term security now, or this offseason, the Chiefs are going to go to the next guy on their (very long) list.

Kalif will be paid just what he's worth. If he demands say, $1.2MM the Titans will certainly find someone willing to take his job for much less. Let's see him get a ew more receptions and a couple of TD's and we'll see his worth rise. I'll bet he's the highest paid person from his HC graduating class at $500,000+

If and when an NFL team has an unforeseen need for a return specialist, probably due to injuries, Kalif's position will change over night. When an employer gets desperate it's amazing how the coffers open up.

The NFL is a meritocracy and Kalif's hard work has given him merit.

That weakens the analogy between Kalif and Malcolm. The return game is becoming increasingly less important...for example this year the Titans opponents have kicked nearly 2/3 of their kickoffs for a touchback...and when it comes to punt returns Kalif has 0 vs 4 fair catches....this is primarily what he has been used for. While we hope for the best for him and want a long, successful career for him, as someone else pointed out, the NFL is a meritocracy...and he's been on 4 different rosters, so its not like its just the Titans holding him back. Lets just enjoy the ride and hope he continues to see more and more touches

And he makes $150K less than Kalif, he should be president of the International Brotherhood of Kick Returners/5th Wide Receivers Local that Sarasota is suggesting be formed!

Titans lose 24-21. One catch for 2 yards for KR Really 17 yards because he drew a 15-yard penalty that they racked in at the end of the play. My kids said he got absolutely drilled as soon as he caught it. Titans scored a TD shortly thereafter.

My second son drafted Kalif in his fantasy league. The team is named The Kalif Krew. He vowed if he made it to the title game, he would start him and he is doing just that. Hope Kalif has 5 catches for 140 yards and 2 TDs (or more) tomorrow.
