I assume the Courant talked to him and his parents and his coach. I trust that info is accurate. VC is relying on whatever is on Twitter. Reilly doesn't even have a Twitter account. His AAU program tweeted about Hartford and Jacksonville. Imagine that. A young man without a Twitter account. I like him already. I agree. Sign him up.

I am fascinated by Joe Reilly's journey. He had the academic credentials to get into HC, USMA, etc. He had the basketball skill to be offered at several D-1 programs. Yet he committed to prep school for a year. We can't go to Twitter to read his explanation, but can anyone shed light on his strategy? Do they have a better elongator at Phillips Exeter than we have at the Luth?
I'm rooting for this kid, but not rooting against any other HC player.

Many players go to prep school because they don't like the schools that have offered them. In many cases, the player will develop sufficiently to give him better choices in the following season. If nothing else, he will be competing with players a year younger than him for most of the available scholarships the following year. Reilly reportedly had offers from Hartford, Sacred Heart, West Point and Jacksonville. Three of the four are not very good academically, and the fourth one carries a five-year commitment and a major life style change.

Lowder and Reilly going h2h in practice will make both better.
