Interesting that there is no advance registration. We'll learn a bit about HC's following from the numbers who show up that day.

Interesting that there is no advance registration. We'll learn a bit about HC's following from the numbers who show up that day. See the item at the bottom of the ad. There definitely is advance registration. What they call "registration" on August 25th seems to be more like a check-in time and possibly an opportunity for someone to do a late registration if spots are still available.

Thanks, bison. I was going by the poster. I had not considered other meaning for "registration."

Thanks, bison. I was going buy the poster. I had not considered other meaning for "registration." The poster mentions advanced registration at the bottom - but if you only look at the tweet and don't open it up, the bottom is cut off.

Might be a good chance to get a look at how Coach Nelson runs things and interacts with players..

I went to the camp today for a few hours....Some good players, about 20 with D-1 offers...About 120 players in total...All the current HC players acted as "coaches"..The one player that stood out to me was Michael Rabinovich from Worcester Academy, 6'9"..Good size, attacks the rim, passes it well and scores from inside of 15 feet...We are interested in him, class of 2020..Another was Zene Quron, a 6'4" guard from the Masters School in CT. (NY Lighting AAU)..a big body who looked like he could play D-1 ball right now! Some of the players there were very good, but don't have the academics to get into HC..
The kids came from 17 states (9 from Texas!) and one from Germany....and others from Mass.(17), Florida, Colorado,CT. IL,VA, NJ, NE, GA, PA OH, UT, ME MD, AZ, MS....A very impressive turnout!!!

could someone educate me on the $$ of these elite camps? Do these players all pay an entry fee, or do we waive the fee for those we are pursuing? Why would some HS player come all the way from Arizona or Mississippi or Utah?

Why would some HS player come all the way from Arizona or Mississippi or Utah? I assume the kids from afar are going to several camps while here and probably taking other official and/or unofficial visits. I would doubt if we could waive the fee for some but charge others unless there was a hardship element.

The NCAA rules prohibit paying for campers.

Why would some HS player come all the way from Arizona or Mississippi or Utah? They are all chasing their dream of playing D-1 hoops...It is a chance to play against the best and see how one measures up...Parents foot the bill, and it has a lot more upside to take a kid across the country for a weekend of hoops than deal with a kid involved in some off those unsavory activities we read about..I overheard 2 mothers talking about beautiful the HC campus, one saying "Why would anybody not want to go to school here?" And another parent mentioning they just moved their son into his dorm at Wilbraham/Monson Academy, he was from Texas....This camp is about recruiting, and getting the HC name out there....Who knows who the players will tell about Holy Cross..It could be our next All-American!! p.s. My son played in soccer tourneys all over, including Texas, as a high school age player, and my daughter played in hoops camps and tourneys all over the East Coast....(The best time of their playing careers if you ask them...)

The Lith is a very powerful recruiting asset for HC. You walk into the place as a HS kid and there is a very big wow factor. The facilities before the Luth were old , dated and just a few steps above being described as a dump. A new young, energetic coach, and great facilities will pay off in spades down the road.
