If BB released a schedule with Penn State, BC, UConn and Providence coming to the Hart Center, Crossports would go dark for about five minutes while smelling salts were administered across Crusader Nation.😉

And women's hockey is offering free admission to all home contests. I envision this could be a boon to area youth hockey programs as well as all-girls hockey teams in the region. Good marketing strategy. I imagine the ROI for people purchasing tickets, concessions, and merchandise would not be worth it. Offer the free admission, get some bodies in the crowd, boost the atmosphere, which will help with recruiting and building the program. www.goholycross.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=33100&ATCLID=211812398

Do all other Hockey East Women's programs charge admission? For regular season, no. Boston College and Providence don’t charge. BC will charge if they host the Women’s Beanpot though. I know BU and UNH charged in the past but not sure about today...

I actually find the schedule ridiculously difficult. Why aren't we giving our ladies a couple of ooc games where we can be a favorite ? The slate should include games with schools such as Sacred Heart, St. Anselm and Franklin Pierce. These schools are in the NEWHA which has been sanctioned by the NCAA as a D.1 league beginning this season. Starting our home schedule with Penn State for two games this weekend is a very heavy lift. And regarding the policy of free admission, I agree with this but it's a risk - What if no one comes to the games anyway ? I'm rooting for the ladies and hoping the crowds are large and loud, but it's going to be a big challenge all around.

Although Penn State has built a terrific men's program, there women's is still developing. They play in the CHA as there is no Big Ten for women (some teams play in the WCHA). They have struggled in recent years, but as a D1 program, I imagine they have more established recruiting and will be a challenge for HC. I agree 100% about the schedule. There are other CHA teams such as Lindenwood and Syracuse which could provide could relief in the middle of the season. Same for lower level ECAC. Give a non-conference weekend after a BC or BU series in January. Once they are in the meat of the schedule, the women's have it tough. Even the NEWHA opponents as you said would be good in October as a warm up.
