Makes sense if he wanted to be close to home. Had a number of other offers up north- Boston University, Fairfield, UMass Lowell, and Binghamton. Navy and USAFA also offered

Looks like a nice get for American....league looks to be restocking with some pretty good talent.
AU board back up running, by the way.

Looks like a nice get for American....league looks to be restocking with some pretty good talent. There have been a number of 2020 PL commitments. Here is the list from VC, with their list of offers: American: Colin Smalls 6-1 PG ( MD ) - Stony Brook, Columbia, RMU, Lafayette, Lowell American: Matt Rogers 6-7 PF ( MD ) - Boston U, Fairfield, Lowell, Bing, Air Force, Navy, Canisius Army: Noah Jager 5-9 PG ( IN ) - None Bucknell: Deuce Turner 6-2 SG ( PA ) - St. Joes, La Salle, Lehigh, Delaware, RMU, Loyola, Mt. St. Mary, Hartford Colgate: Alex Capitano 6-4 SG ( PA ) - Lafayette, Columbia Colgate: Jeff Woodward 6-10 Center ( PA ) - American, Army Lafayette: Eric Sondberg 6-5 Wing ( MD ) - None Lafayette: Kyle Jenkins 6-7 SF ( CT ) - CCSU Lehigh: Jalin Sinclair 5-10 PG ( NY/CT ) - Iona, Stony Brook Lehigh: Ben Li 6-6 SF ( CAN/VA ) - American, Mt St Mary, LIU Loyola: Cameron Tweedy 6-6 SF ( MD ) - None Note that these players all committed relatively early in the process, so they might well have picked up more offers had they remained available. Also Army's 2020 class is largely going to be the players who redshirt at MAPS this year. (Same goes for Navy.) I didn't do any research on the offers, with the exception of Turner.

It appears from your list that HC did not offer any of these recruits. Interesting, if correct.

The last two coaches didn't often fish in the same waters as our PL brethren - when they did, they almost always lost the recruiting battles (e.g., Foulland, Austin Price, Andree, Gasperini, Mahoney . . .). We beat out Lafayette for Faw, and American for Cullen Hamilton - don't remember any other wins, and none vs. Bucknell.
We'll see if that changes with Nelson.

I think the Stevens offer list on VC is inaccurate. I remember him being very lightly recruited prior to committing to HC. I think Appalachian State was his best offer.

We beat out Bucknell and Army for Stevens Ironically Stevens visited Holy Cross and then Bucknell the final two weeks before he made his decision, while Joe Willman visited Bucknell and then Holy Cross the final two weeks. Had Stevens committed to Bucknell during the visit, Willman likely would have ended up at Holy Cross. As it turned out, Bison fans were very happy to have Willman.

I don't know about the entire list, but I know for sure he had a Bucknell offer and made an official visit shortly before committing to HC. EDIT: Looking back on the recruiting thread on the Bucknell board for 2009, I found the following in a post I made about Stevens: "According to Scout, he has offers from Bucknell, Albany, Colgate, Fairfield, Holy Cross, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, St. Joes, Siena, Vermont, Wagner, and Western Kentucky.
Scout gives him two stars and the following evaluation: "Jordan has division one skills. He possesses nice mix of size and skills too. He has the ability to spot an open teammate with a pass or help his team break a zone trap. He can handle the ball and does have three-point range on his perimeter game."

In my original post, in addition to 2020 I was also referring to this years' incoming freshmen.

I was talking about Jack Stevens as I thought hchoops was. Jordan Stevens definitely was highly recruited but that was a long time ago. The Jack Stevens list on VC includes Army and Bucknell but I don’t think that’s accurate. ww-w.verbalcommits.com/players/jack-stevens

You are correct that Jack Stevens did not have a Bucknell offer, but VC doesn't say he did. They list Bucknell as "Interest Only - No Offer".

If you go to the Closed tab under Offers on Stevens’ page, it shows Bucknell and Army among others. For most guys, I’ve always thought that tab is where they moved all the offering schools once the player commits. Or maybe they move both interest and offers there and most guys just don’t have any schools on their interest list. That would make more sense in Stevens’ case based on the list.

Does anyone know where Jack Stevens ended up after HC?

Does anyone know where Jack Stevens ended up after HC? I've often wondered. Given his size, I would think he could find a home somewhere. Last season would have been his sit out year, so with a little research, we might find out come basketball season if he found a new home. Given the fact that he was injured his entire sophomore year (minus one ill-advised cameo), he might not be healthy enough to even play D-II, in which case we may never know. Other than the injury, same question could be posed for Karl Charles

With Karl, I wondered if he just finished his academic career at HC and got his degree. I guess not.

Charles withdrew, and did not return to HC. Stevens withdrew for a semester, came back for a semester, then left HC. Will Powers, I believe, stayed at HC and graduated.
I've googled the issue from time to time, and could never find any info about Charles and Stevens playing elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. I don't know his family situation, but with Stevens losing his scholarship you'd think, with his height, he'd end up at a D-3 private school if his family could afford it or a D-3 state school and play some basketball.

Matt Rogers comes from the Same AAU program as Malcolm Miller(HC), Zach Thomas(Bucknell), Ryan Frazier(Bucknell) , Franz Rassman(Loyola) all guys with some PL success.

Powers was in a different situation as a non-scholarship athlete. His parents were paying with or without basketball. I kind of assumed he would have stayed. I know that both Charles and Stevens finished out the semester (Spring 18) when they were suspended from the team I had heard that neither returned for the following semester (Fall 2018). I had not heard that Stevens came back to school for the next semester (Spring 2019). Based on the leave for a semester, return for a semester, then leave again scenario, are we sure he left again? From a simple timeline, the leave again semester would have to be this coming semester that hasn't started yet. If he was back at school last spring, information about his return to campus could be incomplete
