One-and-dones dominate the headlines but represent a microscopic % of Division I basketball players as a whole.
How many 1-and-dones are there each year -- 15?
Out of a total of 4,000+ DI players.

11 this draft, 20 in 2018 But the general misconception is that the colleges with the most one and dones are the best. This stat above proves otherwise

OK, now I understand what was behind this thread. It makes sense. Thanks, hoops.

I'm going to argue that one and dones have hurt the NBA more than the NCAA.

Move em out and make room for real student athletes who actually show up for basket weaving class.

I'm going to argue that one and dones have hurt the NBA more than the NCAA. I'll bite....how so ? Because the NBA would be adding players before their physical prime, without valuable coaching and development time in a "lower" league/state of competition, and before those players reached some higher level of emotional/financial/ethical/behavioral maturity.
Talent being equal, I'd argue that an NBA team would sacrifice a few years of having a 19 year old player available to get him when they are 22, stronger, better-prepared, and less of a liability off the court. They don't reach free agency as quickly, so the dollars doled out get them closer to that developed prime more affordably, and a player that is paid a big time free agency deal is even further into that prime and developed state.
I think the game is cleaner and better played when there aren't kids running around with NBA beasts. Players like Zion to me are few and far between, and he has not played in an actual NBA game to prove the hype is true as an outlier.

I'm going to argue that one and dones have hurt the NBA more than the NCAA. I'll bite....how so ? It is rare that the one and dones are physically ready to play in the NBA. Not many make an impact in their first professional year.

Most are drafted for their future, not immediate impact. A long term study is needed(probably exists) to show the value of one and done draft picks.
