Georgetown-- Catholic U was 1-9 last year. G'town figures to have a 30-50 pound advantage per man on the line and should score a bunch of sacks, hurries, and interceptions as Catholic U tries to pass its way out of a hole
Lafayette-- Leopards played decently in losses at William & Mary and at Monmouth and can get the job done at home
Fordham-- Bryant has been outscored a composite 80-13 by Stony Brook and Albany. Rams can take this road game
Villanova-- Nova beat Colgate by 20 and Lehigh by 28.
Wm & Mary-- Colgate had a hard time scoring versus Nova and Air Force. Home field advantage helps W & M
UC-Davis-- UCD may be about as good as Villanova which had no problem with Lehigh
Looks like three games with solid favorites and three tougher--don't think we'll see many 6-0 pickers this week

My picks: = Gtown (basically a scrimmage) = Sacred Heart (hate to admit that some NEC teams with 40 schollies are better than PL teams) = Fordham (sentimental reasons, my daughter is a frosh there) = Villanova (another controlled scrimmage) = W & M (is HC the league favorite?) = UC Davis (not expected to be competitive)

Georgetown Lafayette Fordham Villanova William & Mary UC Davis
I could see 3 games go either way with the Lafayette and Colgate games as the toughest to pick.

Georgetown 69-0 over Catholic. I think they used a running clock because the game took about 2 hours 15 minutes.
Fordham 29-14 over Bryant
Lafayette looked strong in the first half, collapsed in the second. Down 56-40 with under two minutes to go.

If Bucknell and Lafayette are both winless when they play each other, seems likely, that will be one tough pick. Fordham fought today for the honor of the league.

Pards are going with a frosh QB Shoemaker (from Texas) and he looks like a good one - threw for 411 yards (2 td’s and 2 int’s) and ran for 134 yds and 2 td’s. Looks to be another long year in Easton with 11 frosh on their 2 deep

UC Davis 41-13, Lehigh porous pass defense. UC Davis was 41-57 passing. attendance 9908. Bill&Mary 38-10 'Nova 45-10
Catholic at GU: Time of game, 2 hours, 25 minutes. (Clearly kept a running clock in second half.) Weather: "Nubilous & funereal" Attendance 1969 (GU is only using smaller, visitor stands on east side as the larger west side stands are completely rebuilt)

The faithful at GU are none too pleased at how this game vs Catholic came to pass and the fact that it is the first of a 3-game series, including a game against this D3 school on the road in 2022. hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/31605/georgetown-catholic-discussionThe spoof at this link is legitimately funny: georgetownfootball.blogspot.com/The fact that GU called Catholic U to initiate this 3-game series somewhat less so. The faithful at Georgetown are understandably embarrassed by the game and the outcome as well. This begs the question as to whether the "less than faithful" at Georgetown are actually pleased to beat up on the Catholics, stated only partly in jest.

While Villanova has no idea how they'll do v CAA competition - they did pick up 3 W's, remained relatively uninjured, broke in a new graduate transfer quarterback, and ran/learned their offense/defense while thumping the PL this OOC. This might work out for them - and does tell us that Colgate is the best of the three teams they played. Bucknell was completely overmatched v Nova (game not nearly as close as the 45-10 score indicated.

“Catholics versus Convicts” had a better ring to it. The easy way to score early in this year’s pick’em was to take the OOC opponent in all FCS/FBS games. It’s an awful year. Thanks to the contest administrator as always.

Don't know how much of the game the starters or 2nd string played but it would seem obvious that the GTown coaching staff should have used this game to give the vast majority of the playing time to those who play the least during the year. Maybe they did and it still didn't stop the onslaught. !

I didn't know Dean Wormer was moonlighting as the administrator of other boards. Combined with their inclusion as an elite school in "Varsity Blues" Georgetown seems to be a very pretigeous college to attend because they are competitive in the PL without Athletic Scholarships. They wiped out Marist in week one while other PL teams have struggled against the NEC. With Colgate being down this year, the Hoyas are a factor in the PL race.

Marist is a weak program - with only one win over Stetson (currently ranked 117 - one spot ahead of Bucknell). The Hoyas are doing well, but don't get carried away. No one has played against the NEC, just teams in the NEC. What does that have to do with the Hoyas win over a so-so Marist (Massey rank = 111)?
PS: UNH is #49 and HC is #56.
