Thought you were talking about Butler, don't think Niego was hurt prior to breaking his toe, his best game was the last he played against RI.

He only played less than 30 minutes in two games, 26 and 29 minutes, so it doesn't look like his playing time was affected at all. I think he just had someone spit on his shoulder pre-game, and then just went out on the floor and threw caution to the wind. I still maintain that a team consisting of five ABs, who were allowed to crash the offensive glass, would win the PLC going away.

is there really question as to whether ab was playing hurt last year?
do you really think butler a.) wore kinesiotape just because it looks cool AND b.) had a fake diagnosis of a torn labrum AND b.) had surgery just for the fun of it?
seriously, wtf.

Not questioning he had an injury just pointing out it didn't have a negative impact on his shooting, if it did we can all look forward to 50% 3 point shooting average now that the shoulder is fixed. As I've pointed out before whatever the injury was it didn't prevent him from firing up half court shots prior to leaving the floor after warm ups.

Austin shot .387 on threes OOC and .410 in PL play
.479 on twos OOC and .462 in PL
.655 on FT's OOC then .714 in PL
Of course we cannot confirm that his injury was relieved precisely between the last OOC game and the first PL game

I did also see a game or two where AB heaved up a half court shot or 2 in warmups. Having said that, it seemed to me he did not make nearly as many dives to the floor as he did frosh season.
I had a birds eye view to his getting hurt at Harvard. If that had been me I might still be laying on the Laveties floor.

As most of us who attend the games know there was a reason why AB was limited to taking only so many shots during practice... think it was said that 30 was the max!

There's usually speculation at this time of year about who will be the starting 5. Anyone who goes Sunday will likely learn who the front runners are
I'm thinking Butler, Faw, and Niego have the inside track. Hard to guess between Wade and Lowder at the point since no one has ever seen them in a collegiate environment. The battle for the point is one area where Sunday would be very educational.
Last spot seems like a battle between Hargis and Copeland. It might come down to whether Coach Nelson wants to go big or small. Past performance has been inconsistent, but I'm thinking Copeland gets the nod. I know everyone is new to this system, but someone has to be a steadying hand for a freshman point guard. (Green started as a frosh, but usually had Benzan or Zignorski with him in the backcourt - same for Thompson with Burrell). I'm not sure that Butler is best suited for that kind of role.
The discussion is opened, have at it

I didn't think that both Wade and Lowder were points?
My guess:
Faw Niego Butler Wade Lowder

Wade is definitely a 2 guard, Lowder is definitely a point. Hargis is probably a 4. Lowder Copeland Butler Faw Niego

Looks like we won't be getting a "1" week tweet although we could be seeing a "0" week tweet the day of the opener.

bison137 posted news of HC's "secret" (more accurately called closed) scrimmage with UMass Lowell on the Open Practice thread. Assume it came from Jeff Goodman's tweet/post on Stadium's website of all the DI secret scrimmages. Here's the PL slate of scrimmages and a link to Goodman's list. PATRIOT LEAGUE American – 10/19 vs. Morgan State; 10/27 vs. Old Dominion Army – 10/19 vs. Fordham; 10/27 at Bryant Boston University – 10/11 vs. Sacred Heart; 10/26 vs. Carleton Bucknell – 10/19 at Columbia; 10/26 vs. Binghamton Colgate – 10/19 vs. Dartmouth at Williams; 10/26 vs. Carleton Holy Cross – 10/24 vs. UMass Lowell Lafayette – 10/19 at Wagner; 10/26 at Mount St. Mary’s Lehigh – 10/19 at Binghamton; 10/26 at Drexel Loyola Maryland – 10/20 at Delaware Navy – 10/22 at George Washington; 10/27 vs. Howard watchstadium.com/news/not-so-secret-list/

Colgate should really get a lot out of the game versus D-3 Carleton, 7-18 last year.

Colgate should really get a lot out of the game versus D-3 Carleton, 7-18 last year. You've got the wrong Carleton. This is Canada's Carleton University, a very good program which is the defending Canadian national champs - a title they frequently win. In August, Carleton beat South Florida and Albany in exhibition games and took Valpo to OT. They are playing an official exhibition game in a couple weeks vs Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. The previous year they beat Ole Miss and Cincinnati, among others.
