LeSann is holding the ball so that 50 or 100 years from now, future generations will know that this was the basketball team rather than the football team. Putting the ball in the middle will ensure it is easily visible in the future. A little more seriously, I think I will be surprised if CLS is named sole captain, if captain at all. I just have not gotten any indication of anything other than him being a senior would warrant that role. The closest I can get was I believe Carmody occasionally put him in a game because he was considered a stabilizing factor. And Carmody is gone. Gotta go back some years, but I remember a senior co-captain who had about 1/10 of the minutes that LeSann had. Distinct possibility with a new coach that captain(s) haven't been named yet and Coach Nelson wants to see who his leaders are

Coach Carmody did not name formal captains but he recognized leaders. I have also used captains on any team I coached. They can be invaluable!

Other than last year when he said he didn't believe in them, Coach Carmody had formal captains. My unfounded speculation at the time it was less a function of disbelief in the leadership of a formal captain and more a sense of betrayal by one of them,

Now for a conscious tangent:
Should college athletic team captains be selected/chosen by the players or the coach?

Emphatically ... YES!

Now for a conscious tangent: Should college athletic team captains be selected/chosen by the players or the coach? A collaborative decision. coach takes players’ input, then decides

I like the idea of collaboration. If the players have meaningful input into the decision, it is likely they will have ore respectively for the captain(s).

Now for a conscious tangent: Should college athletic team captains be selected/chosen by the players or the coach? I've actually seen a third variant. The prior year's seniors who technically aren't players for the team in question

The problem is the possibility that there may be one or more of those former players who have had a difficulty with one or more of the potential candidates for captain.

I wasn't advocating the system, just saying I heard of a third way to pick captains.
However, I will say I don't think a Floyd or Zignorski would be any more or less likely to have a difficulty with a candidate than a Butler or Copeland would.

Not yet.
3 weeks from home opener. Not time to panic but they shouldn't be too far out

Would it make sense to create a thread that automatically generates the HC men’s basketball twitter feed?
Dean, could that be done?

Would it make sense to create a thread that automatically generates the HC men’s basketball twitter feed? Dean, could that be done? I'll look into it to see if it's possible. Not sure it will be. Might be able to get a twitter feed to the front page or the top of each topic (Football, Men's BB, Women's BB, etc.) At the risk of taking this thread way off topic what's the problem you think this will solve? (And if the discussion gets to more than 4 or 5 replies long, I'll move it to it's own thread.)

My high school team, for example, the guys who were coming back would have picked two different people than got picked.

It would limit the number of threads that are created just to highlight a tweet from the HC men's basketball twitter account.

I see Butler being a captain of some kind..he is the type of player Coach Nelson wants on the team..

Season tickets not in yet, will we need to buy a ticket for the Assumption exhibition game on Tuesday?

I was wondering the same thing. I stopped by the ticket office at least 2 weeks ago and was told the tix were due in the following week. The season ticket holder list can't be very long so why not just have it at the window and if necessary, request a picture ID and let you in. The folks over at Fairfield are experiencing the same problem, fwiw.

Since it is an exhibition against Assumption, I'm guessing no tickets needed and since the first regular home game is 11/12 vs. Fairfield, no rush for tickets.
