I think 10000+ is a lock. Weather looks good. A few people I know have expressed interest which is unheard of lately.

A "lock" may be a stretch with the way FCS attendance has trended in the Northeast lately. But I think we hit that number with good weather on Saturday. Students being away will be mainly a non-factor. How many students attend the average game anyway -- 150? Those students that enjoy the party scene and/or follow or participate in Crusader sports are likely to be itching back to campus after a long break and may well come back up the night before or that morning. Many students also have friends in the "just graduated" alumni classes above them who they will want to see or perhaps have older siblings who are young alumni. I think Fall Break will be a non-factor in the attendance. I'm going to say we get 10,850 for Homecoming. Ten years ago, we would probably looking at 12-five on a relatively warm sunny day.

Homecoming attendance dating back to 2005:
2018, Bucknell: 8,275 2017, Lafayette: 7,764 2016, Dartmouth: 9,878 2015, Colgate: 9,368 2014, Fordham: 10,002 2013, Harvard: 8,276 2012, Dartmouth: 9,574 2011, Harvard: 8,649 2010, Fordham: 10,891 2009, Dartmouth: 8,788 2008, UMass: 12,871 2007, Harvard: 10,942 2006, Fordham: 9,547 2005, Georgetown: 8,912
Assuming the weather is nice, a good local opponent, first game at Fitton since UNH, and coming off of two wins...I’ll say 9,600.

I haven’t been to a game in many years, but trying to go this weekend.
In an effort to grow local support does the athletic department give away tickets for football games to the extended community, schools, boys/girls club etc? Thinking something like free seats on both sides for kids/coaches from the 10 to fill up the end zone lower rows. Adults that aren’t coaches, and come with 2 or more kids, get in for $5 or something like that and in a few seasons as the program develops, you end up with a local fan base.

That is just depressing to see.....but it is what it is in the 21st C. Discussed ad nauseum here....just have to keep winning basically. My guess is that we had at least 10K HC fans at BC last year.

Pretty close estimate NY. 12,871 eleven years ago against a good in-state rival. I remember the excellent UMass Band played on after the end of the game as is their custom and if it's the game I'm remembering it was a festive atmosphere.

I recall Harvard bringing their cheerleaders to past games at Fitton, don't remember if their band has ever headed west eight exits on the Pike (or six exits before the Rte 495 and 146 exits were added.) When I was a kid the Crimson band used to play the Anthem on the infield grass at Fenway Park on opening day every year. That's what passed for special effects in the Eisenhower and Kennedy Administrations.

With a really good crowd on Saturday, the one thing that needs to be addressed is the NEED for more than 1 cashier at the big concession stand near the baseball field! At the UNH game it took forever to pay for your food. Many were using credit cards that slowed the checkout process. Have at least 2 (3 or 4 would be best) cashiers so that the line will move through more quickly and you won't have to miss half of the start of the first and third quarters. !

Geez ... you sound like those whiny Harvard reporters a couple of years ago who didn't like the pizza they were given as "members of the press." Not sure an additional register is possible - you need power & data lines - but worth dropping a note to somebody now. Worst case, they may be able to set up a card only line or 2 and use an iPad with Square to separate the transactions.

How about a separate register for CASH ONLY? That might speed things up a bit. I know computers are supposed to make things more efficient, but isn't it sad how often they do the opposite?

With more home games coming up, I imagine they will improve service by trying some new wrinkles. Heck, if the speed at the refreshment stand checkout is the main complaint of fans, in the rest of the game must be doing OK.

If you're going to a football game why not be smart enough to bring cash for the refreshments? I know "it's not 1989, it's 2019", and people use credit cards for everything (got to get those 2 user points for that candy bar), but smart fans come prepared

Failing that can’t everyone just get those grain of rice sized microchips implanted in their hands? 😳

Moose,
That is why I go...though not as often as I would like. The tailgating, possibly overenthusiastic security at tailgates and other issues are not factors of any importance. The GAME is what matters to me.

I do almost all financial transactions through card, online payment or P2P. If a place doesn't accept one of those 3, I generally don't purchase anything.

Getting back to the game prep, sort of. Always think of the Harvard fight song when we play them and not that 10,000 Men of Harvard ditty - how has that not changed at a school co-ed since 1977 when admissions went gender blind - but this one, by Tom Lehrer, Fight Fiercely Harvard, which sounds much more accurate
