It's been mentioned on this board and the prior version of it that Holy Cross, Fordham, & Georgetown should compete for a Commander-in-Chief-like trophy that Army, Navy, & Air Force play for each year. It could be called the Provincial's Cup - especially since all three schools are now part of the same Jesuit province.

It could be called the Provincial's Cup - especially since all three schools are now part of the same Jesuit province. This is actually a great idea. While GU, FU and HC are all league members together in football it would be a positive addition to the football season. I just googled The Commander in Chief Trophy to become familiar with it. In case of a tie the current holder of the trophy retains physical custody of it, even if the other two teams beat them that year. You have to beat the other two teams in a season to actually take the trophy away from the current holder. While reading I felt a small sense of pride knowing that HC belongs to the same league as Army, Navy and the Air Force Academy in at least one sport each. That's not too shabby. Those are three quality Institutions.

Georgetown is under the Maryland province. Fordham and HC are under the USA Northeast province.

Thought I remembered reading (and talking to Fr. Campbell) that in the US, the Jesuits were reorganizing into 4 provinces by the end of 2020. Four provinces were to be East Coast, Midwest, South, and West coast.
Current map on the US Jesuit website still shows the Maryland province, so maybe that is a change still to come or I perhaps I am mis-remembering.

That's my understand from a BC Jesuit... eventually Maryland will be brought into the NE Province.

I really like the idea of a Provincial Cup. I hope we can get something like that going. I think it is better than the Turnpike Trophy (but that is not a high bar to get over).

I don't think you are mis-remembering. About 2 years ago, I met and spoke with the then newly minted Jesuit provincial at an IVC event. While I, too, may be mis-remembering, I thought when I was telling him about my Jesuit grandfather having been posted not just at BC High but at Loyola Maryland and Hudson Valley NY and Canada that the conversation went along the lines that it'd all be together due to consolidation (sans Canada). If I recall correctly, my grandfather "mustered out" of the Jebbies in Maryland and one of his future brothers-in-law was a Maryland Jesuit.

Analysis complete = - Georgetown (Hoyas rebound with their excellent D) - Fordham (Home field advantage in a tight game) - Cornell (Have finally given up on the Raiders this season) - Towson (who scheduled such a tough game - won't be close) - Holy Cross (This is a very big game in our program's revival)

Georgetown Fordham Cornell Towson Harvard (think the Harvard defense is a lot quicker than Brown, and that will be the difference. Probably, barring injuries, the last time I will pick a HC opponent this year.)
